Hardcragg Hall sleeps up to 14 in 7 bedrooms and has 6 bathrooms, with numerous seating areas and even a working bar, an excellent choice for those celebrating a special occasion, be it a birthday, anniversary or simply the annual family get together or intimate celebration. The rooms are of good quality, many with sea views, all with colour TV's. The delightful grounds are fully enclosed and secured by electric gates. There is a small attached cottage next door to the Hall.
This unique and historic Elizabethan Grade II listed Manor house dates back to 1563 and displays a wealth of original features with panelled rooms, stone mullioned windows and huge fireplaces as well as a delightful stained glass window bearing the house motto 'tenez le vray', meaning 'hold onto the truth'. The Hall also boasts some very famous visitors including Beatrix Potter - Miss Potter often visited Hardcragg Hall and the house became the inspiration for Pigling Bland whilst Beatrix gazed down from the latticed bedroom window onto the piggery below. The pictures in the story book depict scenes from inside the Hall. Also Oliver Cromwell reputedly stayed at Hardcragg Hall between military campaigns. The Hall is set within 3/4 acre of mature, enclosed gardens and above the principal seaside town of Grange Over Sands. Grange offers an excellent selection of eateries, shops and facilities, including a golf course, and some superb fell and woodland walking. The mile long, traffic free promenade overlooking Morecambe Bay is a most pleasant stroll, whilst the popular resorts of Windermere and Bowness are a mere fifteen minute drive drive. The house is in an excellent location for devotees to the ever popular Cartmel races which run several times a year.
