3 holiday lets sleeping from 4 to 5
These owner managed cottages are situated in the charming historic town of Alston, high up in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The apartments are tucked away in a quiet corner of the town, only two minutes walk from the town centre with pubs and local shops but also just a five-minute walk from open countryside where numerous walks can be enjoyed.
With its wide sweeping landscape and tumbling mountain streams this is an ideal place to come and relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet and the wonderful wildlife and flowers that adorn our countryside.
Alston's central location means it is also an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area with the Lake District to the west, Hadrian's Wall and Durham City world heritage sites to the north and east, and the Yorkshire Dales to the south.
The holiday development completed in 2008 won the Eden District Council Best New Build Design Award in 2009.
The development consists of four 2 storey apartments or modern cottages. Two of the cottages are completely new and two are part conversion and part new build. The owners live in one of the cottages and the other three are available as holiday lets, each with its own distinct character.
Naworth
This is an historic building dating back to the 17th Century and has been converted into a luxury cottage. It takes its name from the foundation stone embedded in the wall, relating to nearby Naworth Castle.
This is a cosy cottage with a kitchen/breakfast room, bathroom and twin bedroom downstairs.
Upstairs is the living/dining room and king-sized bedroom.
Naworth is great for children as they can play outside in a private courtyard while parents enjoy the balcony above.
The owners also welcome a well behaved pet in this cottage, subject to prior arrangement.
Sowerberry
This is the most spacious of the three properties with all the living space on the first floor and French windows leading out onto a balcony.
It is generously appointed and furnished, so that families holidaying together in all three properties can all eat and relax in this open-plan living/dining area with its well-equipped kitchen.
It is more contemporary in style and arriving guests experience the “wow factor†here.
Downstairs there is a king sized bedroom and a family room with traditional iron bedsteads and a luxury bathroom. Sorry no pets in this cottage.
Millstream
As it was built over the basement of a previous cottage, Millstream has a split-level ground floor.
The living room is situated within the old basement, with steps up into the contemporary kitchen/dining area.
Upstairs is a romantic, super king-sized bedroom and a twin-bedded room, both with lime-paint décor, together with a cheerful bathroom.
Through the cottage patio runs the historic millrace giving a natural musical ambience with the relaxing sound of running water.
Sorry no pets in this cottage.
