Drumelzier is a tiny village set back from the River Tweed, sheltered by the heather covered hills rising to Broad Law, a Corbett and the highest hill in the Southern Uplands at 2,756 ft. The local industry is agriculture and specifically sheep farming with co-exists with an abundance of wildlife under the protection of the Tweedsmuir Hills SSSI.
Powsail Cottage is single storey detached cottage set in its own garden. The owners have successfully created a home-from-home feel throughout and it has been refurbished to incorporate oil-fired central heating and double glazing making it particularly cosy.
It has a secure garage, ideal for mountain bikes, a kennel with outdoor run, and parking area to the side of the property. The fully equipped kitchen is a spacious and bright room and has been well designed to incorporate microwave, gas hob, electric fan oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, plenty of storage and a comfortable dining area. A generously proportioned boiler/general utility room houses the washing machine and plenty of hanging space for drying clothes and waterproofs. The sitting room which forms the focal point of the cottage has an open fire and plenty of comfy chairs. French doors lead from here onto the terrace and on into the garden. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with full size bunks. These are comfortably furnished with excellent storage (shelves and hanging) and have been decorated to a high standard. The bathroom has a full length bath, a shower and a heated towel rail.
Activities on the doorstep include walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding, music, arts and crafts, and visiting gardens, historical houses and monuments.
