This superb apartment graded four star by the french government agency and rated 'Excellent' by Tripadvisor sleeps up to four and offers spacious accommodation. It is set in an ancient wine cave which was converted in 2007 to a prize winning design and stands in the old Roman port of Port Vendres.

The accommodation comprises entrance hall, cloakroom with washbasin and WC, living/dining room with sofabed (sleeps 2) and well equipped kitchen. Patio doors lead to a large terrace with table and chairs for 'al fresco' dining and lovely views over the hills and an ancient fort. Bedroom with double bed, large bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and WC.

There is English and French TV, access to WIFI, DVD, library of English/French books.

The town and surrounding area,
Port Vendres is a diverse port with pleasure boats, fishing and commercial shipping . The fishermen sell the catch of the day just down from the apartment on the quayside and there is a magnificent fish market where not only you can buy fish but also stop off for a plate of oysters or prawns washed down by a glass of excellent local wine or champagne. There are beaches for swimming close by with the seven mile sandy beach of Argeles sur mer, a short bus ride, as is the superb beach of Paullies.

Within walking distance there is the delightful town of Collioure with its tiny streets festooned with flowers and art galleries. Collioure is known as 'the pearl of the Mediterranean' and is beloved by artists, includng Picasso, and home of the fauvist movement in art. Ideal to take a coffee or glass of wine in one of the beachside cafes or restaurants and watch the world go by. There is a stunning drive down the coastal road to Cerbere and the first town in Spain Port Bou, with views over the Mediterrean.

Close to the Spanish border days trips recommended include a visit to the Salvador Dali museum in Figueras, the medieval city of Girona, and the magnificent city of Barcelona. Back in France the city of Carcassonne is well worth a visit, the capital city of the region Perpignan has many cultural and musical events and is within a half hour drive.

For the active there are a host of activites including beautiful cliff walks, cycling, sailing, golf, fishing and sub aqua diving to name a few.
Not to be left out are the excellent restaurants in Port Vendres, just a few steps from the apartment where the specialities are usually the wonderful array of locally caught fish.
