OPENED IN APRIL 2009 with outstanding feedback from visitors (see our website) and recommended in The Guardian newspaper's 'UK family holiday review' January 2012.
We've created four beautiful and luxurious cottages ranging in size from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms in the grounds of our small country estate at one of East Anglia's most picturesque and historic watermills.
Set on the River Waveney which forms the Norfolk Suffolk border and surrounded by several hundred acres of water meadows, we have canoes and a rowing boat for visitors to explore this magnificent river valley as well as extensive private fishing (chub, roach, perch, pike). A haven for walkers and wildlife-spotting (otters, kingfishers, herons, owls, treecreepers, etc..), with excellent local shopping. 30 minutes drive from Southwold, Dunwich etc..
Each cottage has a private garden ('The Lodge' cottage has a huge old walled kitchen garden of over 1/2 an acre) as well as access to 8 acres of grounds and communal gardens around the Mill. Popular with painters, Mendham Mill was also the birthplace and childhood home of painter Sir Alfred Munnings.
Dogs welcome.
Friday to Friday bookings. Weekend and mid-week breaks available outside peak periods.
The Miller's House (sleeps 8) and The Lodge (sleeps 4) can be booked together for up to 12 people. We do not accept group bookings for all four cottages together.
