Heather cottage is 4 star rated through quality in tourism.
It is situated in a delightful and very convenient location close to the old tramway at the very edge of the lovely Mid Devon town of Okehampton and is part of a large Victorian house but totally independent having its own gateway entrance and parking area.
It boasts a large light and modern kitchen , a cosy sitting/dining room area with gas woodburner, large TV and CD player, music system, modern comfortable sofa and dining table.
There is a large and luxurious Victorian style bedroom with click and zip beds which means it can be a real double bed or two large comfortable singles.
The newly refurbished shower room is light bright and modern.
Heather Cottage sits in its own extremely sunny and locally planted abundant garden with ferns, heathers, mosses, wisteria, honeysuckle and ivy as the main feature plants.
Two small stony rustic ponds create a Dartmoor stream ambiance of running water (that can in fact be turned off if you wish).
Okehampton, itself, has all the usual amenities of general shopping but highlights such as Waitrose, the local arts Gallery dedicated to local quality artworks, auction rooms, our new intimate cinema, the museum, the castle, swimming pool/leisure centre, 2 separate golf courses, mountain bike courses in the woods, and the granite way cycle path that runs beside the working steam train line from the restored Okehampton station.
Heather cottage is surrounded only by its own garden trees and our large private garden; in which is situated the cedar hot tub on a beautifully situated wooden terrace looking down over the town and its Victorian park. Heather cottage is actually on the old tramway, now a secluded leafy footpath that takes you directly to the moor from four different points. Adjacent to the tramway is the well known railway station Tourist attraction only) with occaisional steam trains and links to the granite way cycle path with its miles of off-road cycling.
Eastlake farm riding stables is close by from where you can ride across Dartmoor.
At Heather cottage you may feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but you are literally 8 minutes walk, through the beach tree covered paths above the town park to Okehampton centre.
All in all, Heather cottage is perfectly designed and located for an easy comfortable and relaxing holiday; we are even wifi connected, so if you simply can't leave your work at home, you can connect from the cottage and garden!
