Heather cottage is situated in a delightful and very convenient location close to the old tramway at the very edge of the lovely Mid Devon town of Okehampton. It is part of a large Victorian house but totally independent and it has its own gateway entrance and parking area.
It boasts a large light and modern kitchen, a cosy sitting/dining room area with gas woodburner, modern comfortable sofa and dining table. It has a large and luxurious Victorian style bedroom with click and zip beds which means it can be a real double bed or two large comfortable singles. The newly refurbished shower room is light bright and modern.
It sits in its own extremely sunny and locally planted ‘abundant’ garden with ferns, heathers, mosses, wisteria honeysuckle and ivy as the main feature plants. Two small stony rustic ponds create a Dartmoor stream ambiance of running water (that can in fact be turned off if you wish).
Okehampton itself has all the usual amenities of general shopping but highlights such as Waitrose, the local arts Gallery dedicated to local quality artworks, auction rooms, our new intimate cinema, the museum, the castle, swimming pool, 2 separate golf courses, sports centre, mountain bike courses in the woods, and the granite way cycle path.
Heather cottage is surrounded only by its own garden trees and our large private garden; beside the old tramway, now a secluded leafy footpath that takes you directly to the moor from four different points, to the well known railway station with steam trains, onto the granite way cycle path, with miles of off-road cycling. Eastlake farm riding stables is close by from where you can ride across Dartmoor.
At Heather cottage you may feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but you are literally 8 minutes walk, through the beach tree covered paths above the town’s park to Okehampton’s centre.
All in all Heather cottage is perfectly designed and located for an easy comfortable and relaxing holiday; we are even wireless connected so if you simply can't leave your work at home you can connect from the cottage and garden!
