Perfect for enthusiastic walkers or cyclists, Scarlett's Barn is well off the beaten track and offers visitors a truly tranquil break away from it all. Located on West Kitcham Farm on the Devon Cornwall border this lovely, well-appointed barn is set within 30 acres of farmland and enjoys extensive and uninterrupted views across the beautiful countryside. Scarlett's barn provides an ideal base - within easy reach of Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and the dramatic rugged north Cornish and north Devon coastline. Or if you want to take it easy or entertain the children, there is plenty to do - with many family and surfing beaches in and around Bude.

Much of the north coast is steeped in history and legend (King Arthur's seat at Tintagel for example); discover small villages, harbours and a fascinating and scenic coastline.

Very close by is Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall. Here you will find a castle ruin - of particular interest a 13th century round tower built by Richard, Earl of Cornwall - a museum, market town shops, restaurants and a large supermarket. Also close is the market town of Tavistock with a good market and array of shops, Roadford Lake for sailing and other water sports.

A number of National Trust houses such as Castle Drogo, Saltram and Cotehele and gardens - Rosemoor, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the famous Eden Project are all within easy reach. The nearest village, Lifton, is famous for the Arundel Arms (fishing hotel/pub with excellent restaurant) and the large Boxing Day meet - a big local occasion.

Many visitors to Scarlett's Barn enjoy the abundant wildlife in and around the barn and the local area.

Scarlett's Barn sleeps four (one double, one twin room). All linen and towels, electricity, oil included in the price. A well appointed kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine and drier. Centrally heated, it offers a comfortable and warm base for brisk autumn and winter walks.
