Fraudulent Bookings
We have had the following warning from an advertiser.
They had an enquiry through and subsequent (seemingly) firm booking which they believed to be fraudulently obtaining bank details, supposedly for making payment. As a result of this, they have been notified by bank that a Direct Debit set-up was not allowed. (A direct debit can be set up on another persons bank a/c with very limited info. of their a/c.) They have had scam enquiries in the past, but this seemed quite distinctly to be making a firm booking. So advice to any others taking bookings is never give bank details, but suggest Paypal or cheque instead.
