Holiday cottages located in or near Exmoor National Park.
Exmoor National Park is a 250 square mile area in the South West of England nestling the North Devon and Somerset coastline on the Bristol Channel. Exmoor National Park stretches from Combe Martin in the West to Minehead in the east and Dulverton to the south. Exmoor has unique topography of moorland, woodland, valleys, coastline and farmland. Exmoor ponies and sheep are very tough breeds to cope with harsh winter conditions, and the British army utilises the area for wilderness training.
Minehead, on the Somerset coast is a traditional seaside town dominated by North Hill which is the start of Exmoor and the South West Coastal Path that loops all the way through Porlock and Ilfracombe and continues round to Dorset.
On Exmoor you are never far from water. Rivers and streams have cut the many deep combes and are defining characteristics of the area. Exmoor is named, literally, as the moor of the Exe, the largest of these. The water is clean and free flowing resulting in excellent conditions for salmon and trout fishing.
