Half-term can be a great time to escape the routine of life with a break away, but with so many schools having different terms and breaks, it can be difficult to bring your family together for longer periods. This half-term take a short break away to one of our homes with your family.

Enjoy country walks with your family, admiring the scenery of Scotland, England, or Wales. Experience the great outdoors, sampling horse riding, fishing and walking, then retreat inside to a roaring fire if the British weather becomes too much! With many of our homes able to take dogs, leaving the family pet behind need not be a worry. Curl up with a good book, whilst your children play outside enjoying all the countryside has to offer. Get your kids off the television by taking them up a mountain, and revel in the challenge and the achievement of reaching the summit and enjoying the breath-taking scenery. Alternatively stay in, light a fire, and sit down to an intense family board game.

In the summer months laze on the beach, test your boarding skills and brave the (cold) sea! Windsurfing, sailing, and snorkelling can be found along many of the beaches in the South-West, and are activities sure to interest even the moodiest of teenagers. We even have a list of cottages near golf courses. Play some tennis, and compete with your family! Barbeque in the garden, then feast on the blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries of the summer – with plenty of Cornish cream! With many of our cottages near historic sites of interest, bad weather need not put a dampener on your stay: explore old stone ruins, or visit any number of stately homes, castles, and wander through beautifully tended gardens illuminating Britain’s past. Take a long country walk, finishing at the local village pub for a long, enjoyable (and stress free,) Sunday lunch.

A half-term break might be just the holiday your family needs, allowing them to relax before the start of work, school, and routine, and will provide you with a host of memories to cherish.
