Escape from the city for a weekend break by renting a holiday cottage near London. We have a wide range of cottages in Surrey, Essex, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, East Sussex, West Sussex or Kent - one of which is sure to suit you perfectly. Enjoy a short break away from the busy tribulations of work if you rent a cottage in Berkshire. Take country walks with your kids, and luxuriate in the peace and quiet of your self-catering cottage.

Because most of our cottages are within two hours driving distance of London it will be easy to get there and back without the stress and hassle of a longer trip. Also with many of our cottages able to accommodate dogs, there is no need to leave the family pet behind – so the whole family can stay together. There are a huge number of attractions open to you in the Home Counties. From a cottage in Surrey explore the amazing scenery of the Surrey hills, or visit the RHS Garden Wisley which showcases some of the best gardening in Britain. Visit Essex by renting a cottage there and take a trip to one of the many blue-flagged beaches along the coast (either Brightlingsea Beach, Clacton on Sea, or Dovercourt are recommended as perfect for a relaxed day away), enjoying the picturesque scenery and quaint tourist attractions.

Rent a cottage in Berkshire and you have to enjoy the internationally renowned Berkshire Golf Club, alternatively admire the canal and its boats as you meander along its banks. A holiday home in Sussex is great for visiting a classic example of the English countryside, particularly by taking walks through the nature reserves and gardens of the Sussex Weald. Treat your family to a visit to the Earnley Butterflies and Gardens – sure to be remembered by all. Book a last minute short break to Kent and discover more about the lives of authors such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, and Kenneth Grahame, all of whom have lived and been inspired by the amazing natural beauty and vitality invested in the Kent countryside.

A romantic getaway in Bedfordshire might be just what you need, and with excellent travel links to and from London it is a quick and hassle-free holiday. Once there you can revel in the many outstanding areas of natural beauty, and the many beautiful old country houses now open to the public. For those with kids renting a cottage in Buckinghamshire might go down a treat: Buckinghamshire being Roald Dahl’s home county. Inspired by the countryside and its inhabitants (more often four-legged than two) many of Dahl’s most popular books (including Fantastic Mr Fox and Matilda) were created in Great Missenden where Dahl lived for thirty years. There are also a wide range of National Trust houses and walks to cater to the older palate. A visit to any one of the Home Counties is always popular, what with the many tourist attractions, beautiful scenery, and close proximity to London means that you will always be guaranteed a great time.
