To the front of the house is a delightful secluded sunny garden with table chairs and umbrella, perfect for a morning coffee taking in the surroundings. Witherslack is a beautiful village offering walking opportunities as well as The Derby Arms Pub, village shop and church. The Lake District is full of beautiful places, Cartmel, Grange-Over-Sands and Windermere are all within short drives and are worth the visit whilst in this area. Witherslack lies tucked beneath Whitbarrow Scar running south east from the shores of Lake Windermere, encompassing fell, woodland, river and valley bottom. The village consists of fine, stone built traditional houses, cottages and barn conversions surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with varied flora and fauna and a nature reserve providing walking country. Nearby Lindale has a true 'Lakeland feel' with its narrow streets, dwellings and pubs, while Cartmel, with its annual horse race meetings, and tArnside and Grange-over-Sands are all worth a visit. With Lake Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead a short drive away, this attractive village makes an inspiring choice from which to enjoy the whole of a magical area.

Found the water temperature when taking a shower to be only luke warm, and the log burner didnât seem to throw out much heat(maybe because the logs that were left for us to use, were damp?) so relied heavily on the 2 electric heaters. Would have been nice to have had a throw/blanket on the settee to keep warm. There was no instructions in the book at the property , as to whether we were to strip the beds or where to put all the recycling bags (separate ones for plastic, paper, glass and tins) on departure .The road leading to the cottage had many potholes, and because they were full of water, it was difficult to assess which ones were less likely to cause damage to our car, as it was hard to avoid them

Comfortable and cosy .Only tiny negative for us was the bed is a double with head and footboard and though very comfortable to small for my husband who is 6â4 . If there were a king sized. bed or bed with no footboard we would stay again in a heartbeat!.

Brilliant communication from Stewart throughout and the welcome pack was very welcome indeed! Cottage is amazing. Traditional, comfortable and in a beautiful location for peace and quiet. Overall, it was such a relaxing stay and highly recommended.
