About this property

Enjoying a secluded position on the outskirts of the market town of Brampton, near the majestic land of the North Pennines AONB is this outstanding hideaway, High Rigg Shepherd's Retreat. This shepherd’s hut is perfect for a couple seeking to explore Cumbria or simply get away from it all to enjoy a romantic retreat together. After situating your car within the allocated off-road parking space, a short walk up the endearing pathway will bring you to this elegantly-styled dwelling. On arrival, be drawn in by the home-made shepherd’s pie that awaits you within the open-plan living room, where a woodburning stove offers a sense of tranquillity during those chiller evenings. This small, yet well-appointed space comes with a kitchen area for rustling up your own tasty treats, a dining space and a plush king-size bed waiting to be sunk into after an action-packed day. During a balmy afternoon, enjoy a spot of alfresco dining whilst sipping a local gin and admiring your rural surroundings before continuing around the corner to dip into the bubbling hot tub. Look forward to opening up the fizz that’s awaiting you in the wine bucket, roast some marshmallows and curl up with your partner in front of the fire pit with throws wrapped around you as the evening grows darker and before you retire to the evening’s embrace. As you wake up, look forward to tucking into the locally sourced breakfast, with something to suit each appetite. Clean, comfortable, and luxurious! Hot tub was fantastic sipping the complimentary sparkling wine! Shepherds pie was certainly a delight. The views are fantastic and the enclosed space is perfect for your fur friends. The only slight negative I could give would be the cabin did not match the photos on the website, it had been stained green since originally listed, made us think it was not the correct cabin, maybe a sign next to the parking would help. Lovely helpful owner, already planning our next visit.

The property was unique and quirky and very peaceful. The hot tub was fantastic and we enjoyed a lovely BBQ in the sunshine! Comfy bed and very clean when we turned up. The shepherds pies in the fridge was a lovely welcome touch. In the spirit of honesty, there are definitely some things that could improve the ease of stay, especially those guests staying for more than a couple of days: 1. Scissors in the kitchen 2. The chairs were far too big, we spent most of the time moving them around so we could cook comfortably 3. The path from the parking space to the hut is half slabs half grass - this would be really tricky in winter! 4. Spare bin bags would be good… 1 for a 4 night stay isn’t enough… 5. A small freezer section in the fridge would be great as some ice for your drinks would be nice to have 6. Knives were very blunt, we could barely cut an onion up Unfortunately on our departure day, we were packing the car an hour and a half (8:30am) before check out (10am) and we had one of the owners ask if the hot tub could be emptied… we were still moving our belongings out and felt this was a bit inappropriate. Overall we had a very nice relaxing break and would recommend for those couples aiming for a romantic break.
