The cottages are absolutely beautiful and luxurious. The whole area is so well maintained and the cottages are immaculately clean. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud and having two bathrooms is a huge bonus. This is our second stay and weâre returning again in May next year. Canât recommend highly enough. The town of Appleby is lovely and quaint with a lovely walk along the river and near to Rutter force waterfall. An hour from most of the main Lake District attractions. Low Howgill deli and butcherâs is a must visit and the Royal Oak pub does beautiful food and is super dog friendly. The crown and cushion is also lovely for an evening meal and breakfast and is also very dog friendly. Overall a fabulous stay.

So much land outside to which was so convenient with our dog. Will definitely be back soon! 10/10 would recommend!

For those used to holiday lettings, this has to be amongst the very best. It forms part of a larger complex of accommodation units primarily designed for corporate events or, in the season, shooting parties. It sits in delightful scenery and lies around 2 miles from Appleby in splendid isolation along a narrow and winding country lane. The nearest pub, the Royal Oak is a longish walk but a short drive away and the restaurant is well worth a visit. A couple of negative points to raise - the fridge has no freezer unit so there is nowhere to store ice for drinks, and. unlike nearly all the holiday lets we have stayed in, there were no toiletries in the en-suite bathrooms, just hand wash. Small details, however. Bolton Cottage is ideal for a short, quiet country break and only an hours drive from the much more crowded Lake District.
