The Peak District village of Castleton is situated at the top of the Hope Valley, on the doorstep of some great walking country. It boasts the Norman Peverill Castle Keep, is world-famous for its visitor caves and the beautiful semi precious stone Blue John which is only found and mined here. There is an array of gift shops, food pubs and a Visitor Centre. Nearby are the villages of Edale, Hope and Hathersage. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

    Walks from the doorstep. The only negative thing I would say is that although we had parking, you can't get out if the neighbour also parks their car, but we worked it between ourselves. There are 7 pubs in the village, we ate in most of them through the week, can honestly say we never had a bad meal. We didn't do as much walking as we wanted due to the weather but we didn't expect great weather due to being March, we will have to come in the year
