Guests say

Kestrel Cottage is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location in Derbyshire, offering easy access to local pubs and scenic walks. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts, and the property's dog-friendly nature. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests consistently mention the cottage's cleanliness, noting it as spotless and well-presented. The fresh scent of laundered towels and bedding is frequently appreciated, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.

The location is celebrated for its tranquillity, proximity to local amenities, and direct access to beautiful walks. The convenience of nearby pubs and the seclusion for a peaceful stay are highly valued.

Comfort is a strong point, with guests finding the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the underfloor heating and log burner. A few guests noted the double bed could be improved, but overall satisfaction is high.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a BBQ area and outdoor seating mentioned positively. Some guests suggested the addition of a washing machine and toilet roll holders for convenience. The lack of an enclosed garden for dogs is noted, but not a significant detractor.

Thoughtful gestures such as welcome gifts of wine, eggs, and cake are frequently acknowledged and appreciated. It's important to note that while these gifts are a delightful surprise, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

We arrived very late at the cottage (22:30) and the owners had prepared the property very welcoming. There were flowers, wine, eggs and dog treats - Thank you The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated. The rooms are arranged over four levels! I personally wished I had checked the location better. We live close to the M20 and depending on the weather it is either very quiet or very noisy from the traffic. We found the same at the cottage with the close proximity of the A6. We found the matress very uncomfortable and therefore didn't sleep very well. The pictures are very misleading. The outdoor area is all shared between the tree cottages. If they are all full there will be cars parked right outside Kestrel Cottage. The area was quite nice. Great view from the top of Eccles Pike. We had a lovely walk to Waley Bridge and back along the canal. We loved the Little Mill Pub at Rowarth which has lovely walks. We were very unfortunate with the weather, but the cottage was warm and comfortable, although a little dark. Overall, we wouldn't return - mainly because of the closeness to the A6 (see above)

We had a great stay, the house was warm and inviting and the owners had thought of absolutely everything. The under floor heating and log burner were amazing after a walk across Eccles pike. The children had an amazing time exploring the area and enjoyed the amazing roll top bath. The history of Eccles House fascinated us too. We loved our long weekend in Kestrel cottage and can't wait to come back with our dogs next time.

This was by far the most fantastic cottage we have ever stayed in! Everything had been carefully thought out by the owner. The welcome gift of fresh eggs, wine and flowers was so lovely. The history of the renovations provided in the handbook was very interesting too. It reminded me of staying in a Landmark Trust property. I will recommend it to everyone!
