When your eyes grow tired, be sure to refresh with a shower in one of the three bathrooms set across two floors, before you hunker down for a well-earned slumber in either a plush double or inviting twin bedroom, both of which are accompanied by their very own en-suites as well as windows that stare out to the outstanding countryside. This pleasant village lies in the beautiful Tanat Valley at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains, only 4 miles from one of the Seven Wonders of Wales - the magnificent Pistyll Rhaeadr (240 ft high waterfall). Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant was the location for the successful film, The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain, and more recently the film Nativity 2 starring David Tennant. The village boasts two general stores, a newsagent, a Post Office, a butchers, three pubs, a café, a fish and chip shop, and an Indian takeaway. It is surrounded by stunning countryside, providing walking trails for all abilities including the Berwyn Ridge Walk and a trail to the summit of the waterfall. Discover Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, the National Trust Powis and Chirk Castles, medieval Shrewsbury and Chester and the wonderful Snowdonia National Park.

Great facilities - the washing machine and tumble dryer and downstairs wet room was ideal after wet and muddy walks in the area and for sorting a very muddy cockapoo! Lots to do in the area I would recommend a visit to Bala lake and Llangollen. Only thing that would of been useful was a clothes airer and maybe something on the stairs - they are wooden and lovely but very slippery especially with the turn. We will definitely be back and will be recommending the cottages to friends and family :) thankyou for a lovely stay.

The cottage was immaculate, well equipped and cosy and warm. The beautiful woodwork in the cottage is first class. The picnic benches outside, overlooking the lake, are a perfect place to sit with a cuppa or glass of wine, so very quiet, all you can hear are the birds. Plenty of local walks and stunning drives to enjoy whilst en route to further afield destinations. We very much appreciated the kind welcoming gift of wine and welsh cakes and the essentials needed for a cuppa on arrival. We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and hope to return again, bringing other family members. Cannot recommend highly enough! The Beese family.

Recently renovated and tastefully decorated by the very friendly owners who live on site and whose son is responsible for the skillfull carpentry and beautiful woodwork in all three cottages. We were informed by the village shopkeeper it’s the only property overlooking Lake Vyrnwy other than the 4star Vyrnwy Hotel. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need on holiday. The views from all of the rooms are stunning (bathrooms excluded of course)! It rained just about every day we were there but it only added to the enchantment of the area. Our two dogs (A French Bulldog & Cavalier King Charles) loved it there plus their walks down the drive to the lakeside. The drive to nearby Bala is stunning with views over the local hills/mountains. We went out exploring everyday reaching as far as Llandudno on occasion but always returned to lovely warm and welcoming cottage. We are both in our 70’s and Having recently moved house and enduring all the stress involved in such a move we returned home feeling rested, refreshed and invigorated. We loved it so much we’ve already booked another week next March. Barry & Megan Myfanwy Cook
