About this property

Launceston 6.2 miles. Tucked away in the rural village of Rezare in Cornwall, a short drive south of Launceston, lies this charming, two-bedroom barn conversion, Woodcutters. Boasting pristine lawned gardens, tastefully-presented interiors complete with artwork, exposed wooden beams and black tiling throughout, along with superb views of the surrounding countryside, this delightful holiday home welcomes a family of four and their well-behaved dog for a relaxing escape near the Dartmoor National Park. Park up off-road next to your lovely new lodgings and make yourself at home once you've unpacked your belongings. In the spacious, well-appointed, open-plan living area, you will discover a fully-equipped kitchen, complete with all the appliances required to rustle up a tasty, home-cooked dinner. Savour your meals at the dining table before you gather to enjoy a film on the Smart TV by the warmth of a woodburning stove. When the weather permits, head outdoors and strike up the barbecue for some alfresco dining or indulge in a dip in the outdoor wood fired hot tub as you gaze up to watch as the starry night sky begins to appear overhead. When sleep calls, a large super-king and a king with en-suite shower offer tranquil sanctuaries wherein you and your loved ones can settle for a well-earned rest. If you can tear yourself away from your fabulous new dwelling, head out to explore what the local area has to offer. A short car trip will take you to the Stoke Climsland Post Office, where you can stock up on homely essentials, whilst the quaint pub of The Springer Spaniel can be reached on foot from your new accommodation, the perfect spot for a hearty pub lunch! For a day out, head to Launceston, an ancient town filled and surrounded by a wealth of notable attractions, such as the historic Launceston Castle and Launceston Steam Railway, the pristine landscapes of Hidden Valley, and the family-friendly Trethorne Leisure Park. Whatever you get up to during your next visit to Cornwall, be sure to book Woodcutters as your base.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.

wonderful. We were blessed with dry weather…. The garden was lovely for our Newfoundland……. FENCED…. ! The cottage was spacious…. brilliant shower! Just a couple of possible suggestions….. The cooker was maybe on a bit of a ‘lean’ as I had to hold the oven door open with my foot… otherwise it would have swung shut! Some instructions on how to use the cooker would have been handy! Maybe some egg cups and some serving spoons. Generally the kitchen was better equipped than anywhere we have stayed! Fab fridge and freezer and cupboard space. A downside for me personally…. I am somewhat vertically challenged… all I could see in the main bathroom mirror was the top of my head!!!! Some might say that’s all you’d want to see

It rained every day except our going home day, but we have had holidays in Cornwall at least once a year for over 30-years now so we know the sun does not shine all of the time.

The cottage is well equipped and the owners only too pleased to help if needed.
