Tiverton, Mid Devon's largest town, has a romantic castle and horse-drawn barge trips on the Grand Western Canal. Tiverton's location on the Exe and the Lowman rivers made it a prosperous textile town with many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three mediaeval almshouses, and the parish church of St. Peter with its billowing sails frieze. R.D. Blackmore immortalised Old Blundells in Lorna Doone. Henry I commissioned Tiverton Castle in 1106 as a royal fortress. Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life has 14 galleries of exhibits, including the GWR locomotive Tivvy Bumper.

We stayed over the weekend and we got much needed rest. The hot tub, the views and the stars at night were stunning! We will be back soon.

The only thing that let us down was getting the log burner hot tub to get to the temperature we wanted. We tried for 5-6 hours buying 2 extra bags of logs but just couldnât seem to get it going. We followed the instructions to add.
