About this property

The perfect coastal bolthole for a couple or family.

This delightful coastal holiday property overlooks the village green in Shaldon, a trendy seaside town that’s known for its buzzing culture. Less than 300 metres from the beach, this home from home is a fantastic base for a family holiday to the coast, where you can spend your days combing the sands and your evenings enjoying a family film night or dining out in Shaldon’s many pubs and restaurants.

Inside, the cottage is packed with coastal style, reflecting its fabulous seaside location. The accommodation is modern with charming, cottage-style touches and sophisticated, neutral tones to create a cosy and welcoming bolthole. The open-plan living room is stylish with two leather sofas and a dining table and chairs, while the kitchen has everything you need for rustling up a family feast. The style and palette continue upstairs in the two beautifully furnished bedrooms. The master bedroom has a lovely bay window overlooking the green, while kids will adore the bunk beds in the second bedroom. Both bedrooms share the bathroom on this floor. Outside the cottage is a sweet patio to the front, with a table and chairs making the perfect spot for relaxing with a drink while watching the goings-on of the village green.

While in Shaldon, sample the buzzing café culture, or book a meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant. If you visit in August, prepare to get swept up in the merriment of the annual Shaldon Regatta! The local area is a great place for dog walking too, with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal walks right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. If you fancy exploring further, hop on one of the regular ferries across the River Teign to explore Teignmouth. The lively attractions of Torquay are within 8 miles, while Dartmoor (12 miles) offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports.

Very nice central location to the village, ideal for our out of season week. Shower is restrictive in height for anyone over 6ft. Great village shops, pubs and eateries.

Compass cottage is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful spot. We had a lovely stay. Watching the bowls on the green almost daily. Some great restaurants cafes and pubs close by also near by are the butchers bakers and shop everything you could ask for. Parking could be an isssue as it is very restricted in the actual village. My only complaints about the cottage was a lack of space to hang clothes only wardrobe in the house is locked by the cleaners and the mop was no use so it was difficult to keep clean after rain with dogs and us coming in from the street.
