About this property

Set on a quiet lane, next door to the owner's home, and surrounded by rolling green countryside, is this immaculate, detached barn conversion, Langdale Barn. Situated in the village of Sampford Courtenay, close to Okehampton, Langdale Barn is a spacious and contemporary property, suited to a couple, small family or group wanting to explore the Dartmoor National Park, as well as being within easy reach of North Devon's heritage coastline. Parking is available on the driveway at the side of the property, and you can enter through the patio door into the bright, contemporary open-plan living room. The kitchen has sleek cream units, wooden worktops and a range of handy appliances, including a fridge/freezer, cooker and dishwasher, as well as ample preparation and storage space to cook up delicious meals that can be enjoyed together at the dining table, before moving into the sitting room to relax on the sofa, firing up the woodburner and enjoying one of the provided board games, books or watching a film on the TV, while admiring the unique features of the space, including a large picnic basket-style table and exposed stone wall. From here, discover the two neutrally-styled, spacious bedrooms; both are super-king-size with zip/link and can be made into twins, so are able to cater for a variety of groups, as well as having wardrobes and storage space, plus their own TVs, so you can enjoy your favourite shows before you head to sleep. The family bathroom completes the layout, with a sleek and neutral decor, offering the choice of bath and separate shower, so you can choose how to best prepare for each day. Outside is a lovely, enclosed lawn garden with a patio and furniture, providing a wonderful place to enjoy an alfresco lunch in the sun, surrounded by quaint countryside. There is a footpath from the garden that leads into the owner's field and down to a lake, which guests are welcome to explore. Sampford Courtenay has a traditional thatched roof pub, serving food, about half a mile away, while a larger range of amenities can be found in Okehampton, five miles away. Known as the gateway to the moor, the town rests on the fringes of the Dartmoor National Park, along the West Okement River, and offers Medieval castle ruins with scenic walking trails, a 19th century local history museum and a golf club. From here, explore the national park and discover hundreds of miles of scenic walking, cycling and horse riding trails, through forests, rivers, winding valleys, wetlands and tors, you may even see grazing Dartmoor Ponies. Head north towards the coast and discover the historic port town of Bideford, with its heritage railway centre and Big Sheep family amusement park, as well Westward Ho! with its lovely sandy beach, backed by the Northam Burrows Country Park, and from here, walkers can join the South West Coast Path in either direction to enjoy some incredible coastal scenery. Langdale Barn is a fantastic base to return to after a day of exploring the glorious scenery Devon has to offer. Note: This property can be booked with Ref: 1074296, together sleeping up to six guests.

The wildlife and the cameras was a bonus. Definitely we come back again.

Just relaxed as we didn’t feel the need to sightsee. Spent a lot of time watching the birds on the feeders in the garden, walking around the lake and watching the otter videos that Mike posted. Would love to revisit at some point, thanks for the 5* break, it was perfect.

So comfortable and cosy. Beautiful wood-burner for evenings in, super comfy beds. Everything is thought of to ensure you have a great stay (even dog treats). Loved getting the wildlife updates too. Have family down here so we’ve stayed in a few cottages over the years. Without doubt this has been the best. Thank you Mike and Julie x
