About this property

A charming and characterful attached former farmhouse, quietly situated in the heart of the attractive south Somerset village of Winsham on the borders of Dorset and Devon. The cottage is a wing of the owner's barn conversion, believed to date back to 1750, and has been lovingly renovated to create a most comfortable holiday home. Inside the spacious sitting room, you'll be impressed by the original beams and gorgeous inglenook fireplace, a sumptuous place to relax and toast your toes in front of the cosy woodburning stove. The pretty farmhouse kitchen, with its warming AGA, will inspire you to conjure up some tasty treats for your group. Upstairs there are four double bedrooms to choose from, the master bedroom benefiting from en-suite facilities, whilst the other bedrooms share the use of a really lovely bathroom complete with a roll-top bath as well as a shower. There is a further shower on the ground floor ensuring none of your party will have to wait long to use the washing facilities! For those who wish to relax away from the rest, there's a cosy snug complete with TV and a good selection of books. Outside, on warmer days, make use of the small private garden with a patio, lawned area and a pretty fenced pond. The local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides many great walking opportunities, whilst for garden lovers there are a wealth of gems including Forde Abbey and East Lambrook. Further afield enjoy the attractions of the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, or how about a day trip to the beautiful cities of Bath or Wells? The stunning Jurassic Coast with the resorts of West Bay and Lyme Regis, are also easily accessible. This super farmhouse really does offer visitors a warm and comfortable home-from-home holiday experience, in a most beautiful part of the West Country.

An attractive rural South Somerset village, close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, overlooking the Axe Valley, on the borders of Dorset and Devon. Winsham offers visitors a friendly, lively village base, with a thriving village shop and pub. There are plenty of walking opportunities affording wonderful views, and those who love exploring beautiful gardens and country houses are spoilt for choice with Forde Abbey, East Lambrook, Barrington Court as well as Montacute House, all a short drive.

Cottage was more than we were expecting and well equipped. Deborah and Trevor are extremely welcoming and the younger kids loved meeting the animals. Thank you.

It's beautifully furnished to respect it's age and history and full of home comforts. Perfect for a break with friends. The outdoor space is a real sun-trap & perfect for enjoying an evening drink listening to the peace & birdsong. Deb & Trevor, our wonderful hosts next door, were so friendly & welcoming without being intrusive. Loads of walks from the doorstep or a stroll around the village - gorgeous church & great community shop. Loads to do in the area. Forde Abbey is very close & stunning! The Dorset coast is only 20 mins drive. We came away feeling totally relaxed & wishing we had stayed a week & not just a weekend! Can't recommend enough & we will be back. Thank you for such a lovely break.

The owners, who live next door left a lovely lemon drizzle cake and fresh eggs from their own hens. The were happy to give suggestions for places to visit or answer any queries. I don’t think there is anything they could add to the farmhouse that would have improved our holiday.
