The historic town of Kirkcudbright is situated on the banks of the River Dee, on the north Solway shore. However when we arrived there was no power to the plug sockets in the kitchen so the fridge was off, we called the property manager who advised us the fuse box was above the front door and advised us to stand on a chair to reach it. 4 days into our trip there was no hot water so another call and text to the property manager who advised us to switch the boiler off and on to reset it, we then had to do this continuously a couple of times a day until we left. There was also a problem with ants in the kitchen, which we resolved and the owner kindly offered to reimburse us for the food we lost.

Unfortunately the overall impression we got was that it was all a little tired - wonky drawer in one of the bedrooms, kitchen units were a bit weary, lovely looking shower but the water pressure was really disappointing. Just a bit more effort on cleaning and maintenance and this would have been a five star gem.
