About this property

Lochmaddy 10 miles. Set on a working croft in Locheport, on the Isle of Uist, with an abundance of space and unbeatable views is this eco-friendly, pet-friendly lodge, North Light Studio. Perfect for a couple, solo traveller, or even friends sharing, this architect-designed, Scandinavian-style lodge is set in a breath-taking area, with a loch to gaze upon, superb facilities including a sauna, and peaceful surroundings. The glazing has been specifically designed to capture the views. The Northern Lights display have been seen from the mezzanine level. On a clear night the dark skies from this vantage point are mesmerising. Inside, find the open-plan living space, complete with a galley-style kitchen, with an induction hob for your cooking needs and hints of coherence including an orange tap, tying in with the exterior design. From here, the chairs double up as pull-out beds, allowing you to cosy up in front of the woodburning stove after dinner. Before bed, make your way to the shower room to rinse off a day of walking, or perhaps indulge in some time in the sauna. Completing the interior is a mezzanine with a built in platform double bed, inviting you to rest before a day of exploring the isle. In the morning when you wake, savour a cup of coffee out on the front decking and take in the fresh country air while you plan your day ahead. During the day, venture to Baleshare Beach, where you and your canine companion can stroll the white sand while admiring truly breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Avid anglers may want to explore the isle's freshwater fishing with permits available from North Uist Estate. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the island's wealth of walking activities, with the Hebridean Way nearby, as well as water sports such as kitesurfing, paddle boarding, wild swimming, kayaking, and even surfing, which is extremely popular at Hosta Beach. Those who want to see the unusual species that frequents North Uist can do so at the RSPB Nature Reserve at Balranald, or they can take part in the island tradition of boat journeys into the ocean to identify dolphins, orcas, porpoises, and otters! For a truly unforgettable trip choose. North Light Studio.

Benbecula is an Outer Hebridean isle off the west coast of Scotland, linked by a network of causeways to its neighbours, North and South Uist. Balivanich, the major town of Benbecula, has shops, cafes, and the Post Office, as well as Benbecula Airport. Many freshwater and sea lochs, as well as moorland, are scattered across the island, providing ample opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing. The Atlantic coasts of the island have large white beaches and sand dunes, adding to the secluded and calm atmosphere of the place.

The temperature in the lodge especially the sleeping quarters is way too warm, despite it being only 12 degrees outside. It needs proper ventilation installed, or a small velux in the roof space. Unfortunately we came back more tired than when we arrived. There are other reviews online that mention the heat problem so we know this is not a one-off opinion and hope that this can be properly addressed The chairs in the main lounge are uncomfortable and this added to our overall feeling of discomfort with no-where really to turn to relax properly. I did try to alternate between sleeping on the chairs due to it being too hot in the mezzanine, unfortunately that didn't work either. A broom would have been handy to sweep out the grasses and bits brought in by a dog.

The location is amazing, Mhairi and Steven were really lovely and welcoming, and the studio itself is so well thought out, with fabulous views of the loch and the hills. It's a wonderfully light, bright, and inspring place to stay and I really look forward to coming back. Thank you for a fabulous stay!
