7 holiday lets sleeping from 2 to 2Seven cottages exclusively designed for couples, have been converted from the barns and stables of historic Ellen Hall in the peaceful Ellen vale, North Lake District between Cockermouth and the Solway Coast.
Each one is tailor-made for two. Some have four-poster beds on galleried mezzanines, open beams and fireplaces with real log-burning stoves. Our 4* barn cottages are perfect for special occasions and romantic treats, and we can arrange for you to be greeted by flowers, champagne, a fruit basket or your favourite chocolates. Our 3* stables cottages have all the simple convenience and comfort you will need after a day on the fells. Hayloft, our 2* cottage is particularly affordable even in high season and just right for those holidaying alone. Also on site is a six seater hydro-therapy hot tub in it's own log cabin overlooking the beck which can be privately hired by any of our guests. Maximum occupancy in each cottage is 2 adults.
Off the beaten track and yet ten minutes drive from excellent roads, the cottages are an ideal base from which to explore Cockermouth- picturesque Georgian market town and birthplace of William Wordsworth; Keswick - capital of the North Lakes; Silloth - Victorian seaside town; Whitehaven - historic port and Carlisle with its awe-inspiring Cathedral, castle and excellent shopping, not to mention the many hidden gems nestling in the countryside and along the beautiful Solway Coast.
