Spend a day or two at the stunning Carsington Water which offers many sporting activities including Sailing, Windsurfing and Canoeing and you can even hire a bike and cycle the ten mile circular route of the reservoir. Also on the door step is The Heights of Abraham which has a Caverns and Hill top park with wonderful woodland walks and the famous Cable Car which rise from the valley floor, the observation cars transport you in comfort and safety and allow stunning views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District.

Sporting Activities: Cycling trails abound from the doorstep of Holestone Moor Barns. The recently opened Monsal Trail with excellent café and cycle hire centre is a must do for all ages - electric bikes and all sorts of child accessories available! THE CRISPIN INN, CHURCH STREET, ASHOVER, S45 0AB
01246 590911 ....10-15 MINS BY CAR
Bar meals & Restaurant
NOTES - Booking advisable. One of our guests favourites for a special meal. Lovely old fashioned pub with restaurant. Meals are very good, slightly on the more expensive side, but lots of unusual things, and good vegetarian options. Tends to be large portions.
DIRECTIONS - Turn left out of the track. Follow road to the T junction (mind the sharp left bend). Turn right. Go all the way down the hill, into Kelstedge, and turn right just after the Kelstedge Inn. Follow this road, being careful when you get to the bottom of the hill, as there's only room for one car on the bridge. Take first left after a chapel/house. Turn right at T junction. Follow road past Post office, round bend to right (Black Swan on left). Crispin Inn is on your right. Parking in front of pub & behind, or on roadside opposite.

THE TAVERN at TANSLEY, Nottingham Rd, Tansley, DE4 5FR
01629 57735 ....5 mins by car
Bar meals & Restaurant
NOTES - Booking advisable, Mixed reports, but seems to be improving lately.
DIRECTIONS - Right out of the track. Right at crossroads. Right at next junction. Follow road down to Tansley. The Tavern is the first pub you come to, on the right. Car-park is on the left, opposite the pub.

STONES, 1c Dale Rd, Matlock, DE4 3LT

01629 560 61 ....10 mins by car
English
NOTES - Booking advisable. Down lots of steps so not suitable for the less able. No car park of its own – need to park in public carpark. Prices on the high side but worth it for a special occasion. One of our personal favourites.
DIRECTIONS – Make your way to Matlock. At the roundabout take the A6 towards Bakewell. At next roundabout, turn left. Stay in left lane at traffic lights. Car park is next right turn. Walk past bus station towards bridge over river. Cross road, Stones is facing you, down some steps next to Optician.

THE OLD POETS CORNER, Butts Rd, Ashover, S45 0EW

01246 290 888.... 10/15 mins by car

Bar food & restaurant
NOTES - Real fire in the bar in winter. Good bar meals. Restaurant is good though can get a little cramped when busy. Has its own micro-brewery! Medium price range. Very small car park, but parking on the road.
Keep on going through the village, but please beware, this is a very narrow road. You will come to a junction where the road to the left is called Church Street. The Old Poet’s Corner is on the right immediately opposite the end of Church Street, on a very sharp bend to the right. The car park is immediately after the pub, on the right. Mind you don't go down the bridleway!
