Approach Plas Meini via the rhododendron lined drive, and you enter an exquisite 108 acre estate in the Vale of Ffestiniog, deep within the Snowdonia National Park.

Designated a site of Special Scientific Interest, this beautiful estate of meadows and woodland is rich in wildlife – including otters and the magnificent red kite. Take one of the woodland walks along the river studded with waterfalls – wild swimming enthusiasts can dip in the pool beneath one of the cascades. Visit the owner’s Shetland Pony Stud with it’s 30 or so ponies.,including the delightful foals. For anglers, the estate also provides 1 ½ miles of fly fishing.

A Victorian manor house and three discerningly renovated cottages dating from the 18th century provide attractive self catering accommodation for groups up to 25 – they can be hired separately or as a single let. Beautifully furnished with an eye for comfort and style, the properties have stunning views of the Moelwyn Mountains and the Vale of Ffestiniog, and provide an idyllic rural retreat whatever the time of year.

Your hosts Christine and Paul offer a wonderfully warm welcome and have first-rate local knowledge. They are happy to advise you on the excellent pubs and restaurants and plethora of activities and attractions nearby.

The Manor House – sleeps 16
A spacious, three storey Victorian Manor house looking out over the spectacular Vale of Ffestiniog to the sea. This elegantly furnished building has its own secure landscaped garden, originally planted by Clough Williams-Ellis of Portmeirion fame.

The accommodation consists of:
A spacious living room with a cozy open fire and a dining room with French doors opening on to the terrace.Flat screen T.V with Sky.
A well equipped kitchen includes two ovens, dishwasher, larder fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer.
Utility room.
Breakfast room and study
6 double bedrooms (2 with poster beds, one ensuite), two twin bedrooms.
Shower room, bathroom, cloakroom with toilet.

The Cottage – Sleeps 5
The Cottage is a picturesque 18th property with its own large, secure garden and magnificent vistas out to the Moelwyn Mountains. Formerly two farm cottages, this lovely property with its original oak beamed ceilings, traditional inglenook fireplace and stone spiral staircase, has plenty of charm and character. A cosy wood burning stove in the living room completes the picture.

The property consists of:
Farm house kitchen, with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble-dryer, and freezer
Spacious living room,
One double, one twin and one single bedroom.
2 staircases to second floor – one spiral, one ‘easy’.
Downstairs cloakroom with toilet. Upstairs bathroom. with shower cubicle.

The Granary – Sleeps 2
Originally an 18th granary this lovely cottage looks over a shared Mediterranean syle courtyard and pond and out to the majestic Moelwyn Moutains. The house has intriguing historical touches. The attractive beams in the living room are from the childhood home of T. E. Lawrence - Lawrence of Arabia. On the first floor the beamed double bedroom has a magnificent antique painted bed. The property also includes a diniing area, well equipped farmhouse style kitchen, bathroom, private patio and garden furniture.

The Stables – Sleeps 2
Formerly the stables, this 18th cosy stone cottage has wonderful views of the Moelwyn Moutains and shares the courtyard garden with The Granary. This property consists of an open plan living room, dining area, well equipped kitchen and breakfast area. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with fabulous oak beams and a cottage style bathroom. For outside dining there is a private patio with garden furniture.

If you can tear yourself away from the grounds, Plas Meini is superbly located for the some of the best that Wales can offer. Almost on the doorstep is the Ceunant Cynfal woodland reserve. The Ceunant Cynfal - ‘one of the finest river gorges in Britain’, carries the Afon Cynfal down a series of impressive waterfalls as it descends to the Afon Dwyryd in the Vale below. The magnificent medieval fortress of Harlech – a world heritage site and the unique Italianate, coastal village of Portmeirion are both close by. Beautiful sandy beaches and the mountains of Snowdonia are just a short drive away. For those interested in Wales’ industrial past a visit to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns and the Ffestiniog Railway is a must.

Llan Ffestiniog provides local amenities including shop, post office and pub. Supermarkets are a short dive away in Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
