TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence achieved for past 7 years including HALL OF FAME AWARD & now TRAVELLERS' CHOICE for 2020.

BURGATE FARMHOUSE is a beautiful thatched Grade II listed building near Fordingbridge, Hampshire which is close to the New Forest National Park.

There are 2 holiday lets sleeping 2-4 (Little Thatch) & 6-7 (Wishing Well).

The location is also next to the Avon Valley footpath. The section just over the road goes over the River Avon (via a foot suspension bridge) through water meadows & you can walk to the Fighting Cocks Pub at Godshill where the New Forest National Park starts.

Burgate Farmhouse has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the past 7 years, including HALL OF FAME status. TRAVELLERS' CHOICE has been awarded for 2020.

ONLINE BOOKING/PAYMENT is possible through the owners' website:

LITTLE THATCH is the smaller cottage, sleeping 2-4. There is 1 bedroom (either 2 single beds or a queen sized double). There is also a double sofa bed in the large lounge. All the rooms are on the ground floor. The lounge/dining room has patio doors which open out to the lovely patio area under the wisteria.

The bathroom has a shower over the bath & a washbasin. The toilet is separate. There is a secure back garden/yard area leading off from the kitchen door which is great for anyone with a dog.

WISHING WELL is the bigger cottage, sleeping 6. There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double & a single. The middle bedroom has a double & a single. The 3rd bedroom has bunk beds (full sized). NB You have to walk through the middle bedroom to get to the master bedroom.

The bathroom has a shower over the bath & a washbasin. The toilet is separate. There is also an extra toilet downstairs (access is a bit restricted but it's useful as an 'extra' for kids!).

The lounge/dining room is adjacent to the kitchen.

Booking both cottages together works well for extended family groups. Often, grandparents stay in Little Thatch & the rest of the family/children stay in Wishing Well (NB - they don't inter-connect). Wishing Well is ideally suited for family accommodation. Little Thatch works well for a couple or a small family.

Short breaks are possible for most of the year - the only exclusions are the school summer holiday period & the Christmas & New Year weeks. Short breaks can either be a 3 night weekend (starting on a Friday) or a 4 night midweek (starting on a Monday). NB 3 nights is the minimum charge & no other flexibility is possible on start days as the bookings have to run 'back to back'.

There is plenty of parking right outside your front door. There is a half acre garden for everyone to share (lawns/trees/flower beds). There is an ornamental wishing well in the garden (perfectly safe - no water!)

A separate area (with no flowers!) is available for ball games & has a football net, swings & toddler slide.

Patio furniture, recliner chairs, BBQ's (with charcoal, tongs etc) are all available, along with shared use of the summerhouse.

The Games Barn is extremely popular & has a full sized skittle alley, pool table, table tennis, dartboard & lots of children's toys. Bikes can be stored in the Games Barn.

Tourist leaflets are provided (in the Games Barn), along with various walk books, local cycle routes, an OS map of the New Forest & an annual parking 'clock' valid for all car parks in the New Forest area.

Burgate Farmhouse is very child friendly & has a huge amount of 'baby/toddler kit' available to borrow (free of charge).

No smoking is permitted inside the cottages but is OK outside or in the Games Barn.

Both lounges have flat screen 'Smart' TV's & DVD players. There is also a small TV/DVD player in the main bedroom of each cottage. DVD's are available to borrow. A radio/CD player is also provided.

There is free WIFI in both cottages.

Both kitchens are brand new & fully equipped (no dishwashers though). There is a separate laundry room outside for everyone to use (small charge applies). There is a washing machine/tumble drier, indoor clothes line, toilet & sink (for muddy boots),

All bedding is supplied (duvets with bedspreads over) & beds will be made up ready for your arrival.

Towel hire is available if wanted (small charge applies).

There are electric meters in both cottages (£1 coins). Please don't be alarmed by this - the charge is nominal.

Heating is by storage heaters with top up convector heaters where needed.

You are welcome to do an online grocery order to be delivered on the morning of your arrival & everything will be put away for you (most supermarkets deliver here).

The small town of Fordingbridge is just a 5 minute drive away & has many pubs, shops, a supermarket & other services. The George Pub is adjacent to the ancient bridge & has lovely views across the river.

The river Avon runs through the town. The Recreation Ground is a popular place in the summer as there is a playground, paddling pool & an area by the river known locally as 'the beach'.

Dogs are welcome in both cottages (Little Thatch is particularly suitable as it has a secure garden/yard area). There is a small charge for dogs.
