Six cosy cottages exclusively designed for couples, have been converted from the stone barns and stables of historic Ellen Hall in the peaceful Ellen vale. North-west Lake District between Cockermouth and the Solway Coast.
Each one is tailor-made for two. Some have four-poster beds on galleried mezzanines over looking the lounge. Open to the timber beams and rafters, with large fireplaces and real log-burning stoves. Our 4* barn cottages are perfect for special occasions and romantic breaks, and we can arrange for you to be greeted by flowers, champagne, a fruit basket or your favorite chocolates. Our 3* stables cottages have all the required convenience and comfort you will need after a day on the fells. Hayloft, is our latest romantic cottage and just right for those booking for anniversaries or Honeymoons. Stables cottages are very affordable all year round. Also on site is a six seater hydro-therapy hot tub in it's own log cabin overlooking the beck, this can be privately hired by any of our guests. Maximum occupancy in each cottage is 2 adults.

Off the beaten track and yet ten minutes drive from excellent roads, the cottages are an ideal base from which to explore Cockermouth- picturesque Georgian market town and birthplace of William Wordsworth; Keswick - capital of the North Lakes; Silloth - Victorian seaside town; Whitehaven - historic port and Carlisle with its awe-inspiring Cathedral, castle and excellent shopping, not to mention the many hidden gems nestling in the countryside and along the beautiful Solway Coast.
The unspoilt Lakes of Crummock Water, Buttermere, Loweswater and Derwent Water and some of the highest mountains (fells) in England are only a 30 minute drive away.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of this rural haven. Take time to relax and recharge your batteries in the peaceful grounds alongside the stream, sample the best of Cumbrian hospitality at the village pub or Bistro just a ten minute walk away, then sleep soundly in your cosy cottage made for two.
