For one, the River Cam itself runs right through the heart of the city and is very popular for Punting, which is to Cambridge as Gondola is to Venice, and without the hefty price tag of the Venetian canals. Visitors are encouraged to try this for themselves and either rent a whole boat or book a punting tour, perfect for a family outing or romantic trip under the setting sun. The river also boasts large, green banks which are perfect for escaping the rush of the main city shopping and enjoying a spot of lunch, hit one of the local eateries and grab a baguette to enjoy here, watching the punters go by.

The city centre is packed full of daring eateries, stylish bars and a whole host of shopping. Beyond this there are also museums, art galleries, student shows, and a stunning cathedral.
