St Mary's Hill Cottage sleeping up to 6 guests

This delightful mid-terrace cottage sits at the bottom of a pedestrianised cobbled street in the heart of Chester, just fifty yards from the River Dee. Although St Mary’s Hill Cottage is located on one of the city’s oldest streets, it was built in the 1970s and has a quirky and unusual layout that will provide you with a holiday home to remember. Enter through the front door and you will find two bedrooms along with the family bathroom. From here, head up the stairs into the superb open plan living area which has been furnished with great style to provide spacious and comfortable living accommodation. There is plenty of comfy seating with triple aspect windows ensuring that you can keep an eye on everything going on in the street below. The modern kitchen provides all you will need to prepare lovely home-cooked meals which can then be enjoyed at the breakfast bar or around the dining table. Sitting next to the dining area is a wonderful internal sun room with a stained glass window which provides a tranquil spot to sit and relax after a day spent exploring the city. From the main sitting area, you can take a few steps up onto a small split-level mezzanine sitting area, another little cubby-hole to hide way for some peace and quiet. Also accessed from the sitting room, the master bedroom is on the first floor and boasts an en-suite shower room which you access by going up and down a couple of internal steps. From the kitchen, you step through patio doors on to a lovely roof terrace, however head up the external spiral staircase and you will discover a real hidden gem; a second peaceful terrace where you can sip a glass of something refreshing as you watch the sun go down over the rooftops. Just a few yards away is the Bear and Billet, a pub that dates back to 1664, whilst within a five minute walk are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. Head into Chester’s city centre to discover its Roman Walls and Amphitheatre, the unique Rows shopping walkways and Chester Racecourse. Just a couple of miles out of the city is the world-famous Chester Zoo; or you may wish to head into North Wales to discover its fantastic range of beaches, countryside and mountain ranges. Whatever you choose to do on your city break, a stay at this holiday home will leave you memories that will last a lifetime.

Chester is a city where old and new sits side by side in perfect harmony. Evident throughout the city are the remains of the Roman walls and buildings that make Chester such a unique place to visit. Many of these buildings are now chic restaurants or designer shops and there are some very characterful pubs to be found in and along the city walls. The nightlife in Chester is vibrant and friendly, much of tending to centre on the local jazz and comedy club. The famous Gateway Theatre has a regular season of plays and has had many noteworthy actors pass through its doors. Beyond Chester is a countryside made up of rolling hills and spectacular coastlines. A short drive can find you enjoying the peace and tranquillity of an ancient panorama or the hustle and bustle of major cities such as Liverpool or Manchester

    "Having Parking a real bonus."
    Mrs Jones – 1 May 2019
" It is situated in an ideal position to explore Chester and walk the parks and river dee. The bear abd billet food was superb. Would definitely recommend this holiday home to friends and family. Mr walker was kind enough to meet me at the rail station and drive me to the house and show mw around, and when the bathroom light broke , he replaced it within a day. Everything is within easy walking distance. The accommodation exceeds its description. "
    Mr Jackson, April 2019 – 1 Apr 2019
" The home was clean, comfortable, and spacious. "

"Just had 3 nights here with 3 friends. It’s a bright, airy “upside down” property, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor and the 3rd bedroom (en suite) on the first floor, along with the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner. The property is extremely well appointed and it was great to be able to park the car in the garage and not need to use it for the whole weekend as it is just a few minutes stroll from the city centre. "5minutes from the centre of town with many eateries all within walking distance.Close to the river with a pleasant walk along it's banks, again with many places to eat or drink on the way.The main bonus is it has a garage so parking ,which is a nightmare in town, is no problem at all."
    Mr Kylian – 1 Sep 2018
    "Great equipment."
    Dr Mcintyre – 1 Jun 2018
"We particularly appreciated the spacious fridge/freezer and empty cupboard space in the kitchen, the powerful walk-in shower in the ensuite bedroom, the large tv/dvd, the beautiful stained glass mural in the dining area. Our Sportage just fitted into the garage - what a blessing to have parking in Chester! We had a little difficulty on arrival opening the key safe but were able to phone the cleaner who arrived and helped us out. We felt that the information provided in the house about using equipment and various services eg hot water/heating & recycling was not always very easy to understand. Despite a few niggles like having no bath mats provided and suffering an invasion of ants into the kitchen in the extremely hot weather, we found St Mary's Hill Cottage an excellent base for our holiday."

    - 229Sue, March 2017
"First stay in Chester which is so lovely to wander around and take in the history of the many lovely old buildings. Accomodation was really good, very spacious and bright, open plan living area which works really well. Would definately stay here again. Our younger family members that joined us for part of the stay were also impressed at central location and parking in garage. Every one we met in shops and restraunts were so friendly and seemed to actually enjoy their jobs and meeting people."

"This was an amazing house just inside the walls of Chester, near the river, a perfect base from which to walk around the city and venture further out into North Wales and the surrounding area.
