About this property

Altarnun 1 mile. A cosy, beautifully refurbished 300-year old character cottage in the hamlet of Trewint on the edge of Bodmin Moor, only a mile away from Altarnun, one of the most beautiful villages in Cornwall. Arriving at this beautiful cottage along virtually traffic-free roads you will appreciate the tranquillity that surrounds you. Entering into the hallway you will have to make allowances for the low ceilings in places, traditional for this age of property. Passing the bathroom and kitchen diner, you are taken to the wonderful sitting room. With a massive fireplace and open fire, this room is full of the character that is so apparent throughout the cottage, and is a lovely room to relax in at the end of a day on the moors. On the first floor, two well-furnished bedrooms complete the accommodation. Opposite the cottage is a beautiful enclosed garden, perfect for relaxing at any time of day. Just a few doors away is Wesley Cottage, where John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, preached and rested. Set in an 18th century cottage, the chapel, thought to be the smallest Methodist preaching place in the world, provides a unique visitor experience. Also well worth visiting and only a mile away is the beautiful village of Altarnun, with its 6th century church and holy well. Nestling in the valley of Penpont River, this is one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. The Rising Sun Inn just outside the village is a 16th century award-winning traditional pub, selling locally produced ales and fresh and innovative meals in a great atmosphere. Travel to Jamaica Inn, high up on Bodmin Moor and discover the legend and mystery of this historic coaching house. This is the ideal location for touring all of Cornwall, being so central and close to the A30. A wonderful, superbly-located cottage for a relaxing break at any time of year.

Altarnun is a pretty Cornish village perched on the edge of Bodmin Moor, in a central and convenient base for exploring Cornwall. The village has an ancient church dating from the 6th century, as well as a traditional inn and attractive character buildings. From here there is so much to explore, from the wilds of the moor to the north Cornwall coast or city of Truro.
