The tiny flower-filled lane leads you into a hamlet of little cottages and pretty gardens. Stay, explore and feast your senses - soak up the tranquillity, hear sheep in the distant meadows, lie back on freshly-mown grass and breath in the scent of summer blossom. Just one short break available at the end of July from Monday 29th to August 3rd, choose any 3 or more nights at just £80/night. Everything is included in this 4* Gold award cottage, the only items you need to budget for are meals and days out. Please mention this offer when booking, thank you.
A romantic hideaway for couples tucked into the shelter of Cornwall’s Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Less than 15 minutes from the main A30 but hidden down flower-filled lanes. Great views, good walks, easy access to Cornwall's north, south and far west beaches.
A cosy yet surprisingly spacious Cornish cottage for 2, your own door from the garden taking you straight into the large sitting room with its huge inglenook fireplace, wood burning stove and beams in abundance. The secret winding staircase leads you up to a huge bedroom with king size bed (dual control electric blankets!) then into a relaxing en-suite bathroom with its roll-top bath and large walk-in shower.
All lovingly and carefully restored to retain its quirks and character - a few gently sloping floors and ancient beams, cloam oven, deep window sills and low doorways - but with everything to ensure your stay is warm, snug and supremely comfortable. With Freeview Smart TV, Netflix, WiFi, Bosch Tassimo coffee maker, dishwasher, books, maps, games, your own landline (mobile signal is a little patchy) all you need to budget for are meals and days out.
The cottage is not-quite semi-detached with a utility room (w/machine and t/dryer) shared with Sally the owner; ample off-road parking then stepping stones leading you across the lawn to your own entrance, beware the low doorway! Outside there’s a small pond, spring-fed stream and sheltered patio with comfortable furniture, a simple bbq and your own log/boot store.
Your first port of call must be the characterful Royal Inn at Horsebridge with its open fires, slate floors and excellent specials board. The National Trust’s medieval riverside manor house of Cotehele is a must-see, so too are the picturesque fishing villages on north (Port Isaac, Port Gaverne, Boscastle) and south (Polperro, Mevagissey, Fowey) coasts.
Bracing walks over Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor are within easy reach or why not explore the many small independent shops in Tavistock and Truro. The single track Tamar Valley railway line will take you from Gunnislake (4 miles) through farmyards and orchards, over viaducts and alongside creeks (and even past the Royal Navy's warships and submarines in Devonport Dockyard!) into historic Plymouth to wander through the Barbican, the Hoe and the Royal William Yard of Britain's "Ocean City".
Regardless of the seasons or prevailing weather, Spring Cottage is what you want it to be - a haven of peace, tranquility and birdsong or a stepping stone for exploring this most beautiful part of the South West.
A supremely comfortable cottage for couples, ideally located for exploring the towns and villages of the Tamar Valley and beyond. Or for those escaping city life, Spring Cottage is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Everything is taken care of - all you have to worry about are meals and days out.
Short breaks and long weekends from £75 to £95/night depending on season and availability; minimum stay of 3 nights.
