About this property

This delightful detached lodge is set in the grounds of the popular Honicombe Manor Holiday Resort near Callington in Cornwall. Set in over 20-acres of countryside in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from the moment you arrive you are destined to relax. The ground floor is home to three bedrooms with the master benefiting from Jack-and-Jill access to the bathroom and French doors which lead directly out onto the decked patio. Alternatively, choose the twin room for a peaceful night’s sleep, or the double which looks out over the lovely garden. All are well-coordinated with a matching colour scheme to compliment the relaxing feel of the cottage. Upstairs leads the way to the spacious living area with the well-equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable lounge. Spend many days and evenings appreciating the set-up, whether enjoying a home cooked meal with your loved ones, or taking in the park views from the delightful balcony. With unlimited use of excellent on-site leisure facilities and located close to the Tamar Trails Centre, where hiking, biking, canoes and a zip wire are all on offer, a stay at this beautifully-furnished lodge gives you and the family an opportunity to have a fun-filled activity holiday. If on the other hand you would prefer a relaxing time in the stunning Tamar Valley, visiting the delights of the area such as the 16th century medieval manor house of Cotehele or the picturesque river port and village of Calstock, this upside down villa-style lodge presents the perfect location.

Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties, Callington offers a good selection of restaurants and pubs. Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, boasting amazing views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound.

Sofas also not very comfortable either with the bottom cushion slipping constantly and not very clean feeling. Cobwebs in several places especially around kitchen window and outside sitting areas. Carpets downstairs felt very dirty. Plugs in main bedroom not very accessible behind drawers and you can not lean/sit on the bed without it sliding from its position. No dresser to be able to sit and dry hair etc. There was a damp feeling in the lodge in general, surrounding grounds and site very boggy. Slippy steps to get down to property with the top fence rail dangerously unstable. On the whole a disappointing stay. A little work and effort could make a big difference to the comfort of this property. (Mainly new mattresses)

Perfect location on the holiday site for ease of access to everything. Great that you have unlimited use of indoor and outdoor swimming and you can even sit on the balcony and watch the outdoor pool. Pub onsite serves lovely food. Shop is limited to basics only but not far to find a bigger shop anyway. Parking is on a first come first served basis but plenty of options from this lodge and we never had an issue parking 2 cars at the closest patch outside the lodge. The lodge could do with the kitchen tap securing and a better fridge and maybe a better clean on the balcony and patio areas, but all minor issues really. Would recommend a trip to Ginsters shop at Callington, pies are delicious and incredibly cheap and one box will last all week! Fantastic place to stay, would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

The on site facilities were great too so thank you for making sure they were included! Only minor issues - the particularly creeky double mattress. We would also have liked a few more dinner plates so we had enough to serve things to the table as well as eat from. Some more small glass tumblers would also be useful. But overall a great holiday and we would definitely come back as we only did about half of the visits we wanted to. If you could arrange better weather next time that would be awesome! ;)
