Located in sparsely populated south-east Cornwall between the villages of Herodsfoot and Couch's Mill, equidistant from the historic towns of Liskeard, Lostwithiel and Fowey. Stay in one of two cottages, farmhouse b&b or either of the two Mongolian yurts. Each cottage sleeps five in three bedrooms. Both yurts have one double bed. Two rooms available in the b&b. Two wild meadow camping pitches.
Mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 Manor Cottage is tucked away in this rural setting, situated at the end of a wild flowered lane within a private walled garden. This cottage has three bedrooms, a bathroom, additional shower room and accommodates five persons. The sitting room has local slate flagstone floors, ancient beams and a wood burner. A wide door leads into the dining room giving the impression of one large room when open. The room also has a piano and french doors accessing the walled garden. Our Yurt is set in a long grass meadow with fruit trees, wild flowers and views over patchwork fields. The interior is fresh and uncluttered with rustic and contemporary furnishing. A futon bed with thick mattress on wooden floorboards give the comfort of an extra special bedroom. The Yurt does have electricity.
The Tamblyn family will welcome you, they have farmed at Botelet for four generations (from 1860) and have received visitors from all over the World since the 1930's. You are encouraged to explore three hundred acres of mainly organic, traditionally-farmed land, walk through woodlands, wetlands and trek to the Neolithic hill fort for unrivalled views over South East Cornwall. As part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, conservation of orchards, Cornish hedging and the gentle restoration of a rare Elizabethan garden wall, are currently in progress.
