Perfectly located for exploring the moors and touring both north and south coasts, this cosy, terraced, romantic old cottage is set in Minions, the highest village in Cornwall and one rich in history, heritage and legend. Set just five miles from Liskeard, high up on Bodmin Moor in South East Cornwall, this is the ideal place to get away from it all and, being in such a beautiful area of moorland, it is no wonder it is one of the most popular bases in the county for walkers. You arrive and park in the free village car park just a minute’s walk from the cottage, one of a small terrace. You sense the character as soon as you walk through the front door. With the beams, wooden floors and woodburner set in an old granite fireplace, this is a lovely cosy room to relax and curl up after a day’s walking. The kitchen gives access to the pretty long garden, with herb garden, dining area and barbecue. There are two bedrooms here with the king-size double having lovely moorland views and the single which can also be used as a day bed to rest after the day’s events before strolling across the road to the village pub, the Cheesewring which has been serving locals since 1863. A most welcoming moorland pub that takes great pride in being a free house that serves a good range of ever-changing local ales and fresh home-cooked food served every day to order. The pub also hosts live music every Saturday night. Very close to the cottage is The Hurlers, a unique Bronze Age monument and just one of the many fascinating places to see in this area, rich in archaeological interest. There are also many other recreations on offer close by, apart from the top-quality walking, shooting, horse riding, and many watersports, including windsurfing and sailing at the nearby Siblyback Lake. This is a lovely old character cottage offering cosy accommodation all year round.
The town of Liskeard is located in Cornwall and has a weekly market, along with a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. Looe is 8 miles away and the city of Plymouth is 40 minutes by car.
