"Lots of bad reviews about parking I had no trouble in my seven seater Picasso. Walking to the cottage and car was fine for us (50 yrs) Location was excellent the decking on the front caught the sun all day .The cottage was perfect for our family of five and dog. Some great views from the bedrooms and garden .Would I recommend and come again absolutely!!"
    Yasmin
"Lovely cottage for the price, location is great. Pictures need updating on website as outside space has now changed."
    Jane
"Cottage was fine but the road to get to the parking space was extremely narrow with a sharp bend. We wouldn’t have booked this cottage had we known how difficult it would be driving up and down the access road. The information when we booked mentioned 30 steps from the parking space to access the cottage. What it did not say was that the steps were very steep and some were almost twice the height of a normal step, which made them difficult to climb. As a result of this and the narrow access road we could not explore the area by car as we had planned. The description of the cottage before you book needs to more accurately describe the access to the cottage."
    Yvonne
"Hillside cottage is well placed and very clean and tidy. The decked area in the garden was excellent and as we had good weather we sat out every evening and enjoyed the sun, although the lovely seats shown in the picture are not actually there and have been replaced with a table and 4 chairs. The local londis in west looe was well stocked and reasonably priced, and there are a couple of good local pubs. The water pressure in the cottage is not good and makes it hard working having a shower. The main reason we would not return however is the extremely narrow road to the cottage, I know the write up on the cottage did say the road was narrow but my partner did not feel comfortable tackling the steep narrow road with the hairpin bend and equally steep drop if you went over. Also someone decided to keep parking their car on the hairpin bend making it impossible to get round in 1 go."
    Helen
"We loved our family Christmas at Hillside Cottage! What a beautiful cottage, really well presented with comfy beds!"
    Grace
"Absolutely fantastic. Lovely cottage, enjoyed by all even the puppy dogs felt at home. Lesley the care taker was lovely too and very helpful x"
    Karen
"Really lovelly place to stay.Everything included.Good local shops and public house."
    L
"What a lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable had everything you needed. Great view over Looe and the scones, cream milk was a lovely gesture upon arrival. Hill to cottage is steep but we didn't have any problems, would definitely recommend"
    Wayne
"Very clean. Lots of space for large family beautiful town town.comfy beds beautiful view. Road up is a bit tight but we have a large SUV so just take it slow"
    Claire
"The cottage was excellent and had everything we needed as well as being spotlessly clean. Much more spacious than it looks in the photographs. It was lovely to arrive after our long journey to find bread, milk, scones and jam. We were lucky to have sunshine and enjoyed the peaceful private patio well into the evening. The road up was tricky but we got used to it. Looe itself is beautiful and a great base for visiting Cornwall. I hope we will return someday."
    Reginald
"Had I known the problem with the access to the property e.g. the steep hill and sharp bend at the top I would not have booked this property. I have a large car due to us being a four adult family. I did not know about the location problems until I received the email from the owner a week before we departed for our break, leaving it to late to cancel."
    Louise
"Hillside Cottage is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. The owners have kept the property to a high standard and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The only thing that would stop us visiting again is the water system as its almost impossible to have a shower . If this is rectified I would definitely visit again."
    andrew
"the only issue we have with cottage is the shower, it doesn't have much power and very hard to regulate heat"
    Hayley
"Upon arrival we were disappoint to find the neighbours in the allocated parking (something that happened on more than one occasion). Being that the "road" was more of an alleyway snaking up the valley made it very difficult. If you have very small children, pushchairs etc it's not really practical with the steps at the rear of the property or the front we found them quite slippery and too steep. The property was the cleanest we have stayed in with a lovely welcome pack. But the water pressure was awful and the drains backed up and smelled also there is no shower just a mixer tap with shower head over the bath that couldn't be controlled. And the bath took 3 hours to fill, and with four children was a real pain!"

"Wonderful cottage apart from cold bathroom and getting water in shower to be the right temperature. Apart from that superb Xmas break."
    Jules
"The cottage is lovely- better than the pictures. The shower was poor [the only criticism]. The road up to the cottage is narrow. The final bend is tight. We have a large car so it was difficult- this is enough to put me off stay there again."
    Adrian
"Gave hillside two scores of 9 out of 10 because the shower is very fiddly to use, low water pressure and temperature difficult to control and the narrow, steep and hairpin bends on the drive up to the cottage are challenging. But that is being picky. There is a lovely decking area with lovely views , being high up is going to give you the aforementioned problems so they are worth living with. Well positioned in looe very comfortable and modern, free WiFi , bt box, plenty of seating iPod dock and radio provided even crab lines and buckets, will definitely be back"
    Helen
"Lovely modern house the photos don't do it justice. 6 adults stayed there. There's s toilet downstairs which made life easier with so many of us. Very clean a home away from home. looe is walking distance with local shops 2 min walk away. Perfect for families or groups of friends."
    Ann
"Four people and two dogs had a really great week in this cottage.Everything needed was available.Short steep climb to cottage. Not too much trouble if fit.Fantastic view."
    Mark
"Nice well equipt comfortable cottage, wasn't worth the rental price per week due to rusty roasting tins in the cupboards, grease left on the grill pan and tea dregs found in tea pot on the shelf from previous occupants. The cleanliness of the living room wasn't up to standard. However this did not spoil our holiday, the welcome package of scones and jam was a lovely gesture."
    Alex
"This is a beautiful cottage with lovely views down to the river and quay. It was very comfortable and well equipped and felt very homely from the minute we got there. We were welcomed with scones, jam and cream which was a lovely start to the week. Love itself is wonderful, small enough to feel intimate and friendly but it has enough to interest everyone. There are lovely cafes, pubs and lots of independent shops. The beach is great too. My 9 year old son loved bodyboarding and crabbing and my teenage daughter loved the shops and rock pools at Hannafore."
    Dan
"Great cottage ,very happy with it and excellent in general"
    Lorraine
"This was the second time I have stayed at Hillside and was as impressed this year as last. The cottage has everything needed for a superb holiday, i.e. amenities and location. The private front garden and patio area is ideal for when you don't want to venture out, with a view over East Looe, especially as I had two small dogs and private parking at rear of cottage meant car was parked securely. Walk to harbour was two minutes from cottage, turning right a five minute walk to Hannafore beach which is accessible to dogs. Turn left at Harbour and it is a two minute walk in Looe town, alternatively depending on tide you can get a ferry from West Looe to East Looe. Hillside cottage is in the perfect location for anyone holidaying in Looe."
    Nicola
"Wonderful cottage and a beautiful place. Fully equipped and clean . Would recommend to families."
    Dennis
"Great accommodation interesting drive up to house but managed fine."
    Susan
"It was a lovely cottage in a beautiful spot. There were scones, clotted cream and jam and bread and milk to welcome us which was a nice surprise. We had a great stay."
    Joanne
"Lovely well maintained cottage. We really loved everything about it. Hill up to it is a little scary first time you drive up but after a couple of times it was fine. Would definitely book this cottage if we decided to return to Looe in the future."
    Scott
"Only put No as we tend not to visit the same place twice. Well equipped cottage, just needs a new can opener and the stair gate doesn't fit the gap so we had to improvise. Good local quite hilly (but it is Looe ). The drive is steep and narrow but is fine after a couple of runs. Had a great time. We would recommend it. The Golden Guinea was great for food, adult setting yet really child friendly."
    Sharon
"Lovely cottage just up from the harbour in West Looe with gorgeous views from the patio. Good size for family of six with lots of little touches that made for a great holiday. Would definitely recommend and return if we are back in Looe again."
    vikki
"The house had everything it said but very very worn. Really needs a decoration. Zip bed had no mattress protector. Mattress was stained and so was the duvet. Water supply in bathroom for my daughter to bath was terrible."
    zena
"great holiday cottage ,lovely and clean and everything you need for a home from home comfort ,not for the faint hearted though , the hill to the front door is very very steep and the back steps are never ending but still a great place to stay ,large cars would find the drive to the back parking very difficult ,you just have to pray that you don't meet anything coming when you are on the way up or down ,if you have a large car you can leave it in the car park in the town ,but remember you have to walk to the property and the climb with shopping is a killer , all in all still a fab place to stay ,Looe is the most dog friendly place ever allowing dogs in most places ,that was a treat to behold ,so thank you Looe ."
    Margaret
"Lovely, well appointed property with lots of room. The hill was quite scary the first time we drove up but got easier with practice. Lovely views and nice walks both into Looe and to Hannaforth. Would definitely go again."
    Confirmed guest
    "Lovely cottage, views amazing."
    Scott
"Great location and view, outside space and furniture dissapointing compared to pictures and description. Cottage in general need of a refresh. Access to parking space very difficult due to incredibly narrow road"
    Confirmed guest
"Great layout downstairs, plenty of room & well equipped - very welcoming & well located. Only difficulty was the very low water pressure for a family of five."
    Emma
"Beautiful views, lovely location with everything you could need within a short walk. Shower was the only thing that let it down. Beds comfortable. All equipment needed was provided. Only bad thing was there was an Xbox and wanted my son to get away from video games..."
    Patsy
"Lovely cottage. Neighbours really friendly. Ideal for us. Would defiantly return. Although hi il is steep and tight we managed it with SMax"
    Natalie
"Unfortunately we had to clean the kitchen thoroughly before we could use anything. The controls on the oven were so worn we had to google what they were! The pictures on the site are misleading, the property does not have a well maintained decking area, it is old and the seating was rusty and mouldy. The road leading to the parking area is extremely steep, you need to reverse back down and hope no one is trying to get up it! We won't be back. (However, it is clear this was once a well looked after and stunning property)"
    Sandra
"Cottage and location in Looe was good.Walks to Polperro were lovely and there was always something going on ."
    Kevin
"We had a fantastic holiday staying here and are going to book again for next year"
    diane
"Partner really did not like the hill as was too steep for him. Cottage was lovely and near to town, just the steep hill"
    Confirmed guest
"Very convenient location. Good access to local shops and restaurants. Very comfortable. Shower just a bit temperamental but fine once you got used to it."
    Sarah-Jayne
"We had a wonderful time at hillside cottage and cannot wait to return."
    Sally
    "Very good"
    Michael
"Excellent place to stay but you may need to breath in when parking."
    joanne
"Lovely cottage. Very cosy and comfortable. Only negative is the road. We have a large car and found it very difficult to manoeuvre also couldn't get the car up the hill when the road was icy. However this did not spoil our enjoyment and we left the car by the harbour instead so we are definitely fitterThank you to you the caretaker who kindly went out of her way to bring us more sheets as we had changed the number of pax in our party."
    Andrew
"Lovely cottage, in lovely place, will go again."
    Michelle
"Nice enough house and Looe is lovely but I had to fork out £145 for a hire car as my car was too big to go up the lane, I was only told 3 days before arriving that the lane is very narrow and steep, as I value my paintwork and bumpers I didn't want to risk it, yes there were mondeo sized cars up there but they had lots of scratches and scrapes. It should be in the listing the lane is not suitable for larger vehicles."
    Catherine
"very nice property. The road is a challenge but you do get use to it. The parking bay is a very good size. There are quite a few steep steps to the property from the car which keep us fit. Overall a good property and location. The garden is very secure so we could leave our dog outside on her own. I would however suggest that the light bulbs are checked as they were quite a few out and one missing."
    Miffy
"Lovely cottage but access to it is very steep and tight but will give you a hint if you you ever go out in the car for a day out you would need to reverse the car down the hill half way down into a drive then go down frontwards due to a tight corner and a big drop apart from that we had a lovely time we down the coastal walk from looe to polperro what was very tiring and got bus back also the kids enjoyed crabbing while we was there and would recommend the cottage to people."
    Daniel
"The cottage was in a great position, five minutes walk to the centre of Looe and its beaches. I cannot really fault anything with the cottage accept it may be benefical to look at an electric shower in the bathroom, as on a couple of the days it kept switching off. This is only a minor thing, as the cottage was great in ever other way! "
