Mawnan Smith on the northern banks of the Helford estuary is a great base to explore all of west and central Cornwall. It is a small village with a popular 17th Century 'thatched' pub (the Red Lion), restaurant and shops, also a working forge and craft centre. Developed as a distribution centre for goods and produce for the Lizard Peninsula. With the village acting as a staging post for materials that were to be ferried across the Helford River - to the Lizard Peninsula. The "Old Smithy" has recently been restored by the Anvil Trust, to recreate a working smithy in the village. The attention to detail, the high quality furnishings, bedding and equipment including the fabulous sound system surpassed expectations and made it difficult to leave. Really lovely extra touches like the toiletries, welcome goodies and flowers were also a lovely touch.

Everything was perfect, all essentials (and luxuries) provided. We brought our dog so it was brilliant to have use of the dog exercise area and a lovely touch to have a bowl and dog biscuits provided. Lovely helpful owners, anything we needed they got back to us instantly. Wouldnât hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back
