About this property

This divine and cosy Cornish cottage is located within minutes of golden Portreath Beach and the north Atlantic coastline. Nuzzled amongst an attractive terrace of homestays at the foot of the cliff, this cheery and welcoming retreat ticks all the boxes for a coastal escape for family, friends and couples seeking both recreation and relaxation. Pebble Cottage boasts a fusion of contemporary and character accommodation with two attractive bedrooms and two shower rooms, the double has an en-suite. Both bedrooms are comfortable and have ample storage, whilst the cosy sitting room with beamed ceiling houses a delightful wood burner, making it a restful spot, leading into the modern kitchen. The ground-floor shower room is perfectly placed after a day of sun, sea and sand, while the spacious sun room doubles as the dining room, overlooking the pretty garden of patio and pebbles, with summerhouse for secure storage of surf gear and cycles. A safe space for children and pets to play, it's also an ideal spot for blue sky feasts, coffees and an evening glass of wine. Popular Portreath has shops for provisions, cafés, a deli, coffee hideouts and inns - this little resort has a chirpy vibe and the sandy beach with dinky harbour is well-loved, with a stream running across the sands and excellent surf for body boarders. Scenic rambles are guaranteed from atop the South West Coast Path which showcases magical seascapes. Walk to Bassets Cove (five miles there and back) or head northbound to lively Porthtowan, a four-mile stroll through beautiful scenery. Once there, reward yourself with refreshment in the Blue Bar café and restaurant, tucked aside the dunes with big ocean vista. The stunning country park at Tehidy boasts miles of cycle/bridle path nature trails for exploration. Discover St Agnes and Trevaunance Cove, Perranporth, Newquay and Watergate Bay, all reached within a short car journey. The north Atlantic coastline is a hot spot destination, making for a wonderful holiday all-year-round.

Portreath is nestled in a stream valley between high cliffs. It has a secluded sandy, safe beach which is popular with families and surfers alike. The village has several shops including beach shops, a take away, several pubs and cafés, plus cliff tops for walking with panoramic seascapes.

The showers let the place down.

As soon as we opened the gate to the garden we felt disheartened especially after a very long drive but then when we opened the patio doors the smell of damp hit us ! The cottage needed a lot doing to it and alot of the faults had been noted in the guest book 3 years ago...a dripping tap, the smell of damp, poor plumbing in the en suite bathroom but yet it hadn't been resolved. On our visit the microwave was dirty as was the bin, the kettle was brown inside and the outdoor space was neglected. The shower upstairs was not great, having to stop the water mid shower to allow the water to drain as the plug hole clogged up. The bathroom downstairs we didn't use as for some unknown reason it had alot of flies. In general it needed a good clean, windows dirty , cobwebs an skirting crumbling in kitchen . Such a shame as area was lovely, beaches beautiful and people very friendly. Unfortunately we didn't even get the welcoming cream tea !
