Beautifully situated overlooking Porthallow beach, this little cottage is comfortably furnished and has a roof terrace to relax on. There are several great walks and good pubs nearby. Sleeps 5, pets welcome (Max 1)

Bank Cottage is almost on the beach in Porthallow – a small fishing village near the Helford River. This cute terraced cottage sleeps five people and one dog and has been arranged in a reverse-level fashion to make the most of the sea views from the first floor.

Two bedrooms (the double and single) are on the ground floor along with a shower room. Upstairs, the living room has a large bay window with comfy window seat and cushions overlooking the beach and out to sea. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped and has a dining table with bench seating. Three steps lead up to the master king-size bedroom (which can be converted to a twin upon request) and its en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside the cottage, there is a yard at the front with a drying area and steps leading up for a roof terrace which has stunning sea views and outside seating. Around the back, a rear entrance leads into a utility area which is perfect for wet clothes, wellington boots, wetsuits, boards and dog equipment. There is parking on the beach with payment via an honesty box.

The beach itself is stony and just off the coast you’ll find The Manacles, a rocky outcrop which has caused many shipwrecks over the years, making this area superb for diving. The village pub, The Five Pilchards, is only a stone's throw from Bank Cottage and serves good food. Another good pub to visit is The Shipwrights Arms, in nearby Helford Village, which is only a short drive away or you can catch the foot passenger ferry across the river. While you are down on The Lizard, you must visit Roskilly's where they make their delicious ice cream, homemade cakes and snacks, and serve a great Sunday lunch.
