    Complimentary Welcome Hamper
A complimentary welcome hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.

S41722 is an old shippen, providing holiday accommodation in the quiet hamlet of Treneague in Cornwall.
It stands in the grounds of a 17th century cottage but is not overlooked. French windows lead to a secluded terrace with fig trees and yuccas, enclosed by dry stonework. With only the sound of owls at night it is a tranquil place.
There are walks from the front door, and glimpses of nuthatches and woodpeckers.
Minutes away in Wadebridge, bikes can be hired for cycling to Padstow, Rick Stein's restaurants, and wonderful coastal walks.
Swimming and surfing, both sides of the estuary, are within 20 minutes by car. Many other attractions - The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and Tate St Ives are within easy reach. In autumn and winter, the white sandy beaches are deserted, and walkers and birdwatchers have the woods and sea walks to themselves.

"A lovely small cottage far out in the peace and quiet of the countryside. Clean, comfortable and warm. Well equipped and nicely decorated. Lots to do in the surrounding area and in the evening we sat with the radio on, warmed by the log burner. A wonderful break from London"
    Confirmed Guest – 17 Oct 2017
"Lovely cottage. Very quiet. Welcome hamper was very much enjoyed. We had a slight problem with the heating and Sarah came out within a hour or so and later that evening one of the owners of S41722 phoned to make sure everything was ok (which it was)."
    Confirmed Guest – 26 Jul 2017
"A good property and well maintained, the only comment I would make is that the photos gave the impression that the property was near to the sea, which is incorrect."
    Confirmed Guest – 19 Jul 2017
"We have stayed at S41722 many, many times and keep returning. It is a magical place which offers a real opportunity to switch off and enjoy peace and quiet in seclusion - whilst being in a location that makes all the local attractions and coastline easy to reach. We are not lovers of returning to the same place but have made an exception over the years with S41722 because we have yet to find anything better for just 2 adults and a dog with good access to the North Cornish coast. Yes, it is small but as the description says it is a converted Shippen! It has everything you need and is more than comfortable for a great holiday. Contrary to previous reviews there is really nothing wrong with either access or parking. Yes, it is down a tiny access lane but it is Cornwall and the real beauty of S41722 is its location in what is a tiny hamlet. We will be there without fail in 2018."

"The owners have done as good a job as can be expected of a small proper like S41722. The property is good but at a price of a luxury property. I have stayed at far better properties at a lower price than S41722."
    Confirmed Guest – 4 Jul 2017
"Access road and parking inadequate. Needs a washing machine and drying facilities. S41722 best described as "tired". Has obviously been furnished cheaply and is not good value for money."

"Owl Cottage was lovely. Very clean & had everything we needed. Good location for visiting all the lovely beaches. Welcome hamper was really great & contact with Sarah the housekeeper was really friendly & helpful. We will book again soon"

"We were pleased with the cottage in general but felt that the bed was uncomfortable due to a lot of use and needs replacing. We also felt that the property was expensive for the size of the accommodation. The housekeeper was very helpful."

"Cottage was described, welcome pack cover our stay perfectly"

"Loved it. I guess it might be better to have a washing machine for a week, there are not enough utensils etc to fill a dishwasher before you need them again. If you are with a dog or walking then it's nice to wash muddy and wet stuff but perhaps some people won't book unless they see a dishwasher! We loved it there. Found the 4pm arrival restrictive as it wastes the first holiday day making it awkward for small breaks."

"The cottage was absolutely amazing and immaculate The welcome hamper was such a kind gesture and lasted our stay The cottage was also ready by 10am instead of 4pm We received a text which was nice and made the start of our break even better Will be returning"

"What a perfect location for our first Christmas together when we decided to take ourselves away from the usual stresses and S41722 didn’t disappoint. Booked on a whim due to my obsession with owls - we think it was meant to be. Despite unseasonably warm and wet weather, we’ve had a most idyllic time. The privacy and seclusion is perfect and the cottage is beautiful. A memorable and wonderful break – we’ll definitely be back. J, J, and Albie the dog, Cardiff"

"Lovely relaxing week in perfect walking conditions. As usual, best night sleep all year. And after all these years of staying here we finally heard the owls! N&F, Twickenham"

"Our first time in S41722 and we absolutely loved it. Enjoyed every second. Hear the owls, see the blue bells in Hawkes Wood, spend time on the terrace and have it very cosy with the wood burner in the evenings. A&FK, Germany"

"S41722 is a lovely little cottage, very clean and well maintained with tasteful furnishings and decorations. My sister and I both loved it and we wish we'd booked a longer stay. It's placed in an ideal location for getting to local places of interest, but you must follow directions to the letter in order to find it... I'm not complaining :) Will certainly book again with Snaptrip and will recommend them to friends and work colleagues."

"First time at S41722. This is a truly quiet and relaxing place to be. Very lucky with the weather – we ate breakfast outside every day! Love the peace and quiet of the place, caught up on reading but also did lots of sight seeing and walking, and probably best of all, cycled the camel Trail. C & P, Nottingham"

"Peace and tranquillity ..... take time at dusk behind Treneague House, look into the field and stay still. This is the territory of a tawny owl who visits and hunts here. He came on all four nights. Thanks for a wonderful stay. B &G, Nottingham"

"A lovely, peaceful cottage which is a great base from which to explore North Cornwall. The weather was glorious. The outside is a delight in the early morning / late evening. We did lots! The Coastal Path (Rock - Port Rein/Isaac) was strenuous but worth it for the views. AH, Nottinghamshire"

"A brilliant weeks stay at S41722. Weather has been gorgeous. Great little place in the countryside listening to the Owls in the evening and hearing the neighbouring horse in the morning. Visited all local ports/villages and enjoyed many beach walks with the dog. Will definitely use again for a get away. Thanks for the lovely hamper too. JW, Wokingham"

"A gret few days in lovely peaceful S41722. Comfortable walk into Wadebridge, nice town, good coffee and superb cream teas. Rick Steins 'Seafood Restaurant' worth a visit, superb evening and food. Ferry from Padstow to Rock, coastal walk to Polzrath with long sandy beach walks recommended. Weather sunny and warm, best this year. Chilly evenings compensated with the cosy wood burner. Our fourth, superb Rural Retreat break. Hope to make a second visit to S41722 soon. JQ, West Midlands"

"Beautiful little home from home with lots of thoughtful touches. Fresh coffee, bottle of wine, hot water bottle etc. We highly recommend Port Isaac and Port Quin (and back again), circular walk very challenging but beautiful coastal views (allow 3 hours). Follow up with a glass of wine in S41722 with the wood burning stove in use. Bliss! CK, Beaconsfield"

"We have had a wonderful honeymoon here at S41722. The cottage is everything we had hoped and more - a lovely secluded and cosy haven in which to stay. Cornwall despite 'variable' weather has been a fabulous place to spend our week. We visited Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac and Falmouth amongst other places. Also travelled on the Bodmin Steam Railway, walked along deserted sandy beaches and wandered around Padstein which is a great place to potter around. All in all a fabulous week and hopefully we will return one day. JT, Andover"

"Another successful and lovely Snaptrip location. Absolutely gorgeous cottage and how wonderful to be woken up by the birds in the morning instead of the darned alarm clock! Such a great restful time, long walks, drives out to Padstow, more long walks on beach and headland... superb! Feel refreshed and revitalised and ready to take on the rat race once again! Thank you Sue Matt - Cheltenham"

"We've so enjoyed our stay at S41722. We love the pretty hedgerows along the lanes and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. We heard the owls from about 10 pm onwards and spotted a variety of birds in the garden. Great tits, chaffinches, bullfinches, red legged partridges, buzzards to name but a few - bird lovers paradise. Lovely bike ride from Wadebridge to Bodmin. Great fish and chips from Barneys, Wadebridge. Fantastic beach at Harlyn Bay. Cardinham Woods near Bodmin perfect for dog walkers. Cottage spotless on our arrival and hamper very welcome. Thank you. Going home well rested. We will definitely be returning to this little piece of heaven. Already jealous of next week's guests. Christine and Paul - Hampshire"

"We've had an enjoyable week away and staying in S41722 has really made our holiday! The first 3 days we didn't even use our car, with walking and cycling in the local area to enjoy. The Eden Project was certainly a highlight and now we want to come back for a second visit! The comfort of the cottage has been the perfect escape from busy tourist sights. The tranquillity, peaceful environment, along with the well-equipped cottage has been a pretty impressive luxury! Thank you."

"Our first "staycation" with our beautiful 16 week old baby. The cottage was immaculate upon arrival and we enjoyed the remote location and warm sunshine. The perfect cottage for a romantic, rural retreat. Highly recommended! We visited Padstow, Trevone (great baby friendly beach), Tintagel, Boscastle (NT tearoom is lovely for whiling away the hours!) and further afield.Antony"

"We just loved the place from the moment we saw it. It's so warm and welcoming - our first time at S41722 - probably not the last! We travelled around each day but enjoyed coming back to the warmth of the fire each evening. So peaceful and relaxing - we found soduko, TV, music, walking...and more, just so chilled!
