Primrose Cottage is a lovely, stone-built cottage, situated in the Cornish village of Whitstone. It was converted from an 18th century granary into a light and spacious, contemporary holiday home. The property still manages to retain its charming country cottage feel, with its exposed beams and fireplace. Inside, the cottage has a reverse style accommodation with two ground floor bedrooms; one double and one twin. Both rooms have modern 'New England' style furniture which gives the room a homely feel and added extras such as a dressing table. There is a ground floor bathroom with a bath and electric shower over. Kick off your shoes at the front door and venture upstairs to the spacious open-plan living area. The lounge has a range of contemporary sofas facing the LCD TV with a DVD player, ideal for a relaxing family night in. The kitchen has high-quality fitted units and sleek worktops, giving you all the appliances you could need for breakfast or a large home cooked evening meal. The dining area has ample seating and is a great space for social occasions. Whitstone is a fantastic base to stay, as it is within driving distance of a number of local attractions, including Penhallam, a fortified manor house near Jacobstow. There was an earlier, 11th century ringwork castle on the site, which was constructed in the years after the Norman invasion of 1066. The castle that remains now, is a grass-covered ruins of a 13th century manor and protective moat. It has a dog-friendly trail and a car park. A little further afield is Hidden Valley Discovery Park, a hidden gem and is fun for the whole family. With footpaths in the magical secret gardens, a Forbidden Mansion with secret passageways and hidden doors and walk along the ceiling of an upside down room, and an on-site restaurant serving meals, cream teas and cakes - this is a sight you will not want to miss. Whitstone is a village and civil parish in Cornwall, England. Froxton Farmhouse (19th century) is a Grade II* listed building. Froxton was also a manor recorded in the Domesday Book when it was held by Thurstan from Judhael of Totnes. The church is one of the oldest buildings in the village, built around 1400: it has two aisles and a west tower. Notable features are the Norman doorway and the Norman font. The church was restored in 1882.
