About this property

A perfectly-presented romantic detached cottage, in the peaceful hamlet of Pennington, two miles from the market town of Ulverston. Lovingly appointed throughout to provide spacious accommodation, Beck Cottage is ideal for couples who wish to enjoy this Cumbria location, just a short drive from the beautiful Lake District National Park. At this Pennington cottage, you will find a bright and spacious open plan living area with a cosy woodburning stove. The excellent bedroom has an additional sitting area together with a TV. This superb Pennington cottage is so comfortable and cosy you may never wish to leave! Outside this Pennington cottage is a pretty patio area stocked with flowering plants, which is a delicious suntrap throughout the morning. With the stunning Lake District within 30 minutes’ drive, and the beautiful coastal area overlooking Morecambe Bay within 10 minutes’ drive, this superb location has a wide variety of walking and cycling available. There really is no excuse not to get out and enjoy this quiet corner of Cumbria. The market town of Ulverston is a colourful destination with a regular calendar of festivals, including the traditional flag festival and lantern procession, plus of course some excellent restaurants. Just a five minute walk from this Pennington cottage is a pub with its own microbrewery and there is a farm shop in the hamlet. This charming Pennington cottage is a delight at any time of the year.

Situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, the scattered hamlet of Pennington is set in an area of gentle hills and unspoiled countryside. The start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths are close by, as are the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn - locally renowned for their fine ales and good food. Nearby Ulverston is an ancient market town, which still holds a streetmarket every Thursday and Saturday. Today, this settlement is best known as a "festival town", with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel. As a result, it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Facilities there include a wide range of shops, pubs, and restaurants whilst all of the attractions of the National Park are within easy reach. Also close by is the Furness Coast, boasting sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Other attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

It also has plenty of natural light and we were able to enjoy some winter sun, too. We think it would be lovely in summer with the French windows open and a view out onto the rockery garden. It was the perfect base for us to explore the beautiful area around Ulverston.

Beck Cottage was comfortable and filled with all the necessary facilities and more. The owners are on site, but were unobtrusive. Thank you Millie for the bottle of fizz and ensuring that our first visit to the Lakes was memorable. Hopefully we will be back.
