    Incorporating a fabulous 1930s art deco theme throughout, this spacious semi-detached holiday property has been beautifully and lovingly renovated over a period of time, with superb insight and attention to detail. Quality period furnishings have been sought out and adorn each of the rooms, some having been beautifully restored, and the result is a bold masterpiece in the popular market town of Bolsover.
    Most famous for its castle, Bolsover is ideally situated in the heart of the country between Sherwood Forest and the Peak District, and offers a superb blend of spectacular scenery and fabulous walking opportunities. Cultural activities, events and walking festivals regularly take place throughout the town, which is also home to a local market every Tuesday and Friday, and is bursting with local shops, restaurants and bars offering plenty for visitors to the area.
    For guests who enjoy stately homes and gardens, Bolsover Castle is a matter of minutes away, and is home to magnificent paintings and extensive gardens. Hardwick Hall, known as one of the most splendid houses in England, can be reached in 20 minutes and the magnificent houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall in around 40 minutes. The historic town of Chesterfield, which is most notable for its famous crooked spire, can be reached in around 20 minutes, and Sherwood Forest in around 30 minutes. Finally, a whole host of Peak District towns and villages such as Edale (home to the start of the Pennine Way), Buxton with its diverse architecture, the show caves of Castleton, Matlock and its cable car, and Bakewell which is famous for its puddings, are all under an hour away. Shop and restaurant 3/4 mile, pub 1/2 mile.

    "Wonderful property - friendly, clean, comfortable, well equipped. Marvellous 30s decor with the bonus of all mod cons . Well placed for visiting a good variety of tourist attractions. Enjoyed a most relaxing break and would certainly return. Drivers of larger vehicles may find drive slightly awkward , but this is just a ‘heads up’ , not a criticism ."

    "A beautifully restored house, obviously a labour of love. First impression driving to it is misleading going through a modern housing estate, but on arrival the grounds at the rear make up for every thing. Extremely well fitted and comfortable if we have any gripe it is the fact that the double beds sag too much. Also on inspection of the shower my wife, who had her own cleaning business insisted on cleaning the screens and shower tray before we used it. She also removed a large wad of hair from the drain trap.We will go again."

    "Bryan Tor is a semi detached property on the edge of a housing estate on the outskirts of Bolsover. The rear of the property overlooks farmland and provides a wonderful view of the countryside. Internally the house is decorated to a very high standard and fitted out with some lovely 1940 s furniture, much of which has been beautifully restored. The property has all modern equipment in the kitchen and bathrooms with a washing machine and dishwasher provided as well as a modern cooker plus separate microwave oven. The property has good Wi-Fi and terrestrial TV. At the rear of the property there small terraced area with steps leading to a paved patio area with table and chairs approx 18ft square and a similar sized area on the other side of the path leading to the field. The owner is currently adding a summerhouse here. There are no formal gardens or lawns but the patio is adorned with pretty pots of flowers and there are some shrubs surrounding the patio creating a pleasant area to sit . The field at the rear is owned by the property but let to a farmer for agricultural use. As of July it was not possible to walk around the field due to the crop although we understand that guests can legally walk around. The field header is left fallow although the owner is cutting this back for use by the guests and plans to develop this further in the future. There are also some disused derelict buildings in the field which the owner intends to develop. She very kindly cut some of the field back to enable our dogs to excersise. It’s worth noting that neither the field or the garden is secure for dogs at present but the owner provided some additional fencing to keep our one year old Collie contained on the terraced area during our stay. The road outside the property is moderately busy especially at school times and in the morning. The owner is a very pleasant lady who is very helpful and is at hand if you need anything at all, she could not have been more helpful and was lovely to meet. The location of the property is on the outskirts of the town and is ideal for access to the tourist attractions in the region. The cottage is very well presented and apart from the beds which are authentic 1940s and a little noisy we thought the property to be of a good standard inside. The internal stairs are very steep indeed and may not be suited to young children or the elderly, check with the owner if this is important to you as all bedrooms are upstairs. The garden and surrounding field are a work in progress and will be much improved when complete. For now you can enjoy the view and the patio areas."

    "loved GardenerGardener's House very well equipped and clean, loved the decor/furniture ! Had a problem with the radiators working properly but owner very helpful and keen to sort out problem. Didn't realise house was so far from the town centre as such so car needed all the time. Matlock, Bakewell, Clumber Park not too far away."

    "Lovely place to stay, with everything we needed. The owner was really nice and made sure our stay was as good as possible. Lots of room and great views to the fields around. Very clean and was a lovely touch to provide us with tea, fruit, breakfast things etc - including vegan suitable products! Would stay here again if we were in the area."

    "We needed accommodation in an emergency and it proved to exceed our expectations. Very nicely decorated and felt like a like home from home. The central location made it ideal for trips to friends and family. trips to Nottingham hospital for visits and appointments via the M1 were made in no time at all and stress free. Our dog made herself at home and enjoyed many walks into Bolsover. We would certainly stay here again if in the area"
