Mulberry Cottage sleeping up to 2 guests

A cosy retreat for a couple, set in the Amber Valley and with good walking from the door.
This stone-built, single-storey, detached, Grade II listed cottage is situated next to the owners property. It has been thoughtfully renovated making it a perfect warm, cosy base, with its beautiful beamed ceiling throughout and gas woodburner. Rurally located amidst beautiful countryside in the Amber Valley, and accessed via a country track, it is close to the popular, pretty village of Ashover - home to one of the Peak District’s oldest pubs, a camra pub of the year and reportedly haunted by a couple of ghosts. This is an ideal base from which to explore all that the wonderful Peak District has to offer. Chesterfield, with its crooked spire, is just 20 minutes to the north, and the town of Matlock, home to warm springs, Leys Hall Park and a cable car rises high above the Derwent river, is just 10 minutes to the south. There is excellent walking direct from the door, and even the opportunity to follow the Ashover Audio Trail around Ashover Village itself bringing the history of the village to life. Bakewell, home of the Bakewell Pudding and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, are just half an hour away, as is the spa town of Buxton with its diverse architecture and famous opera house. The enormously popular village of Castleton with its caves can be easily reached within an hour, as can Hathersage, famous for its associations with the Eyre Family and home to an outdoor swimming pool. From countryside to history, public house to fine eateries and shops, there really is plenty to see and do from this wonderful location. Stabling is available for one horse at a cost. Fishing and riding nearby. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
. All on ground floor: Living/dining room/2 steps to kitchen with tiled floor. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. Most rooms with beams.
Gas woodburner in living room included. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freesat TV. DVD. Gas cooker. Small courtyard with sitting-out area and furniture. Chiminea. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. Stabling available at cost. Natural water supply from spring. Welcome pack. No smoking.

    Anwen – 17 Mar 2018
"Lovely unexpected break in a cosy home from home cottage! Be careful not to rely too much on the sat nav when nearing the cottage. It took us down a lane which was clearly a disused road. The cottage had everything you needed for a break. Slept wonderfully and wish I’d asked the owner what and where they had their pillows from as they were wonderful and struggled to sleep in our own bed since! The cottage was located in a quiet rural area so it was peaceful. Plenty of walks nearby too, ideal if you have a dog, and you could even walk to a pub which served delicious meals. We visited lovely little towns and villages including Bakewell (bakewell pudding is a must!), Ashbourne and Buxton. We had a lovely time and would definitely consider if visiting the area again."

"Spent an absolutely wonderful few days in the cottage over Christmas.Beautiful walks, perfect peace and tranquillity for 2.Just be careful of the route your satnav takes you. Would we go again? Yes, of course we would."
