About this property

Melbury House is a quintessentially English rambling manor house, set within acres of private land - this listed building offers a cosy and welcoming abode, set in a secluded rural idyll.

This charming home casts an impressive silhouette: a majestic sight of original local stone, slate roofing and pristine, flower-framed lawns stretching ahead. With three acres of gardens, comprising sedate terraces with charcoal barbecue, outdoor dining and games, as well as woodland and mysterious pathways, guests can truly lose themselves in the idyllic, rustic haven that is Melbury House.

The interiors are sleek and classic, whilst being warmly informal. A refined drawing room has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and a centrepiece original fireplace. With regal accents of crimson and florals, bookcases brimming with good reads, guests will be able to unwind away from the strains of urban life and the crowds, and reconvene as a family or group.

The farmhouse style kitchen has a four oven Aga as well as top range fittings; an ideal space for large scale meal preparation, as well as having an eat-in option for informal meals and children’s snack time. Finished with a palette of creams, terracotta flagstone flooring and views across the lawns, cooking will be a pleasure!

There is a second reception wood, with chic and tasteful dove greys and soft coral tones: finished with a wood burning stove. Up to twenty guests can be accommodated across eight elegantly finished bedrooms; a mix of kings, doubles and singles. Each bedroom has its unique touches and accents of colour or style - whether it be beautiful artwork, plush fabrics, lavish prints of pops of bright colour against a serenely neutral backdrop.

Outdoor dining is executed so stylishly, with chic outdoor furniture on the terrace, overlooking the lawns and far reaching views. Guests will enjoy a glass of wine in the luxurious hot tub as the sun softens at the end of the day, or a tasty barbecue after a busy day out exploring.Melbury House is nestled in a peaceful, tranquil hamlet called Cranborne Chase, just outside Shaftsbury.
