"Great cottage - super cosy- definitely going back."
Graham – 14 Sep 2018
"Nice cottage nice area ! Ideal for dogs and people ! Would stay again 😀"
Heather – 24 Aug 2018
"The cottage was perfect for us. We were very comfortable there and had a brilliant week exploring all around Swanage, both on foot and by car. It was also great fun to be able to catch the train to Corfe Castle from Herst Halt (a short walk away) by flagging it down. We made good use of the local fish and chips shop within easy walking distance of the cottage; the nearby convenience store was also very handy."
Jeremy – 13 Jul 2018
"This was our sixth year at the cottage and , as always, we had a happy week there. Parking is not always easy but we usually manage to find a space. In the light of it being a dog friendly cottage and the current publicity of the danger of adder bites, may I suggest that some Veterinary Practice numbers are included in the Cottage Information Book?We did a little research and found that the nearest was Lynwood Practice 01929 422213 on the Ulwell Rd about a 5 minute drive from the cottage and they also have a larger practice in Wareham. The only other thing I think prospective visitors need to know is that the stairs are very steep. we are now in our 70's/80's and this year, particularly, we found them hard."
J – 29 Jun 2018
"Lovely cottage with 2 cosy bedrooms and fully equipped. Parking was no problem either. However, the cleaning leaves a lot to desire. We needed the microwave to sterilise baby's bottles and it was so filthy, it had very old dry food inside that even after a good scrub and Milton bath it still smelled of curry for the next 2 days. Several plates had dry food on them so we decided not to cook and eat out, the sofas in the living room had a very strong unpleasant musty smell . The upstairs area was alright, cosy bedrooms and nice comfy beds, but we found pet hairs on the bed sheets too. I believe some of these things have been highlighted by previous customers so I wonder why things have not improved. It's a shame as we think it is a lovely cottage. We left a day early."
Kate – 27 Apr 2018
"We had such s brilliant stay here. Just on the edge of Swanage, it’s perfect for exploring the town and surrounding Dorset."
HAWKINS – 23 Mar 2018
"We had a lovely relaxing week in this delightful cottage. The only negative being that the shower and bath is not easily accessible for someone with limited mobility. We had extremely cold weather during our stay, a couple of problems with the heating were sorted out quickly and ensured we stayed cosy and warm. The beds were oh so comfortable, we slept like logs! Thank you cottage owners!"
Justine – 28 Dec 2017
"Cottage was a great base for us over Christmas. Light airy rooms and comfortable. Shame we encountered a problem with heating and the kettle not working on arrival but owner had sorted it within 4 hours. Only recommendations is a fixing for plastic blind/window cords & slip proof bath mat."
Mrs Barnes – 1 Dec 2017
"We were happy with the property size, location & local amenities but disappointed when we smelled cat wee as soon as we got inside. We couldn't get the fire to light so the downstairs wasn't as cosy as we'd have liked. Upstairs the beds & bedding were lovely & comfortable. The shower was great. The house wasn't as clean as we'd like- radiators, skirting boards, extractor in bathroom window...The pans/oven trays were past their best so we avoided cooking. The cat wee & fire problem was mentioned previously in guest book so assume owner not bothered? We tried to make the best of it as we were treating our friends to a few days away; they went home early as it was too cold to sit comfortably downstairs."
Cindy – 21 Jul 2017
"We really enjoyed staying in the really cosy cottage but unfortunately there was no dishwasher, the beds were nice but very soft and although we didn't really mind there was quite a smell of animals that were guests before - so it definitely wouldn't be recommendable to people with allergies."
JEREMY – 14 Jul 2017
"Excellent location, Comfortable and well appointed"
Chris – 23 Jun 2017
"Excellent cottage. Swanage is beautiful especially that we were blessed with a heat wave. The cottage has everything you need but it is a good 20 min+ walk to the Sea Front - no issues for us but may be for elderly or less mobile families.Great days out to Studland, Harry Rocks, Durlston Castle, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Compton Acres and Tyneham all a short drive away.Would definitely return for future holidays."
Christine – 16 Jun 2017
"Lovely cottage nice and cosy with everything you need for a self catering holiday."
Richard – 12 May 2017
"Very comfortable, cosy cottage. Parking could be difficult at times. Could do with info re recycling, as it varies from district to district."
Paul – 5 May 2017
"Cottage was disappointing - bed linen was inadequate - who would want a winter duvet in May but the only alternative was to use just the thin duvet cover and a very thin blanket so we had to buy blankets for the bed. The bedroom storage facilities were minimal. The cooker was ancient and the saucepans did not suit the cooker rings. The freezer in the fridge was not very cold so our tub of ice-cream started to melt. The shower over the bath was cramped and restricted by the ceiling so it was not easy to use, (and I am only 5ft 11ins). Need I say more?"
Peter – 24 Mar 2017
"A lovely cosy cottage on the outskirts of Swanage. The kitchen was compact, but very well fitted out with all the utensils needed. The general layout is well illustrated in the photos of the cottage.I"
Ellen – 10 Mar 2017
"Nice, cosy cottage close to Swanage. Very well equipped and perfect for dogs with a small secure garden."
Liz – 27 Jan 2017
"Loved it! Cosy, warm, charming, cottage.Well equipped with everything you need. The welcome tray is a lovely touch, especially the wine!"
emma
"Lovely cottage, nice location within walking distance of town centre. Simple facilities, suitable for couple or small family."
Richard
"Our second stay at S19889 and we'd stay again. Easy walk into town down the High Street, no need for the car and great walks a stones throw from the cottage including a grass area just over the road for quick dog walks. The cottage is cosy and the wood burner is lovely on the colder evenings.Considering the closeness of the main road, the cottage is peaceful and relaxing, you hardly notice. We would thoroughly recommend staying here, it is perfect for exploring the Swanage area. The owner was very helpful regarding key collection, broadband code and we asked for the second bedroom to be made up close to our stay, this was no problem that we were really happy about.Welcome pack was lovely."
Lorna
"We were a party of four adults on a walking holiday. The location of the cottage was perfect for us. Swanage offers independent shops, an interesting train station, and beach. A very well stocked local shop was very convenient.S19889 is small but proved a very comfortable home to us for a week. At times, parking outside was problematic but we never had to park more than five minutes walk away."
john
"A good holiday home. Location almost perfect (nearby road noise and poor parking arrangements stopped it being a 10.) A little bit more detail to the kitchen cleanliness would have improved the score here. All in all a good place to stay and would recomend it."
Mark
"S19889 is a quaint compact cottage that is well placed for Swanage, Corfe Castle and many other places of interest. It has a pleasant patio for outdoor eating and a comfortable living room with good amenities. While the kitchen is on the small side, it is perfectly adequate for a summer holiday let. Parking on the street is easy. The best meal we found was at the Black Swan; a bit of a walk but worth it."
Edward
"A clean and cozy cottage with easy access to Purbeck tourist areas. Would stay here again if we came back to the area on holiday."
Sue
"Had to wash crockery and utensils before using as they were grubby."
Trevor
"My wife had to clean the cottage on arrival - cobwebs on all windows. There was signs of a dog wetting on the lounge floor which we had to clean up.We thought the cottage was secluded, but if was off a main road near a couple of schools! Can't blame the cottage for the weather though!"
Lynne
"Lovely cottage very well equipped and comfortable. Only downside is the pub (Royal Oak)50 yards away does not serve food. However there is another pub serving food (The Globe), a fish & chip shop and Indian restaurant/takeaway only 100 yards away. There is a bus stop into town about 75 yards from cottage and you can catch the Swanage steam train from Herston Halt, a very short walk away. Would definitely stay here again."
Mary
"We had a very pleasant week at S19889, very dog friendly, blanket provided so Scamp could relax on the settee!! Everywhere clean and tidy, welcome pack useful, heating kept us warm. What else could we ask for in mid April?"
Liz
"Had a brilliant time. Lovely cottage, homely and comfortable. Really warm and cozy , we didn't need the wood burning stove but was good extra, my husband enjoyed stoking the fire all evening. Bedrooms were very comfortable and the garden was a real suntrap."
Malcolm
"Overall a great place to stay for a relaxing break, shame they don't do a welcome pack ,flowers etc, always gets the holiday off to a good start for little outlay on vendors part"
Jane
"lovely cosy cottage with a welcoming feel to it"
sharon
"Despite the stunning cottage (super cosy, well equipped and furbished) and a real good location, we were very disappointed as there was a lack of cleanliness, which is very important to us.We often travel and have a holiday letting ourselves and hygiene is the one top thing you need to take care of.It's such a pity, cos it's the reason why we wouldn't return. The coaches and the carpet had a heavy smell of wet dogs...this terrible smell got even worse after wanting to pass the vacuum cleaner, as it probably is filled up with dog hair.I had pets myself but in my places it would never smell. The 2 bedrooms though cozy and comfortable had some real hygiene issue as well.I happened to move the bed and I actually was astonished with the dirt I saw behind!Fortunately we decided to look at the positive things (which are really a lot) and enjoyed our holiday. But a cleanness-improvement is definitely suggested."
Richard
"Lovely cottage, had a really relaxing week"
Linda
"Good holiday cottage. Location perfect. Wood burner made the cottage. If we stayed in a cottage again we would pick one that did not accept pets. We are not dog owners and could certainly smell previous pets. A well loved cottage though ....comfy cosy and nicely presented. Lovely comfy beds. Nice open plan. Lots to do in area."

Lorraine
"Very compact and standard of cleanliness disappointing especially kitchen and bathroom. The beds were, however, very comfortable."
Graeme
"Lovely little cottage on the outskirts of Swanage. About a 15 minute walk into the town centre. It's compact - little room in the kitchen but for a holiday break it was fine. Small enclosed garden; open fire; clean spacious bedrooms - and the most comfortable beds you'll ever find."
Liz
"Charming cottage. Good base for exploring both on foot and in the car."
Tracey

"Cottage was very nice - very well equipped and the location was perfect for us."
Pam
"This lovely cottage is not very easy for older people as the stairs are very steep and the bath needs at least one grab handle and a nonslip mat, Overall it is very well equipped and comfortable and it was lovely to be able to take Chive our dog with us."
Confirmed guest

"Good location for seeing a large part of Dorset coast . Where cottage is could’ve better described as actually in edge of modern ish housing estate, but close to Swanage and Corfe Caste plus coastal path. Oct 2012."
