About this property

Shipton Hill View is nestled on the  edge of the village of Shipton Gorge in the beautiful Bride Valley in Dorset.  Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, the village is seeped in history, with little lanes and quaint cottages and a church dating back 13th Century.   Exploring the village of Shipton Gorge, The New Inn is managed and run by the local community and provides home cooked pub favourites and local bitters.    Shipton Gorge is surrounded by countryside with a network of public footways and bridleways.  Try getting off the beaten track whilst exploring the countryside surrounding the beautiful Bride Valley by taking a walk from Shipton Gorge to Shipton Hill which is around 4 miles.   Just a few miles away is the nearest coast and beach at Burton Bradstock, which is a world heritage site and part of the Jurassic Coast.  A few miles further on is West Bay, which has a pretty harbour with kiosks and restaurants, two beaches and walks taking in the view of the iconic cliffs featured in the TV show Broadchurch.  Around two miles away, the market town of Bridport is worth a trip as it has a good variety of shopping and the twice weekly market features antiques and collectables. A visit to Shipton Hill View offers guests a home from home base for exploring the countryside and coast of Dorset. Being all on one level this comfortable bungalow may be suitable for guests looking for easy access as all the rooms are on the ground floor.  Shipton Hill View, a family owned holiday home, has been recently redecorated and updated with new sofas and soft furnishings which complement period wooden furniture pieces along with having a new shower room for 2017. One of the joys of staying at Shipton Hill View is the long and level rear garden with wonderful views of the rolling and verdant Dorset hills.  In the summer it's the ideal location to dine alfresco or have a game of cricket. In the winter enjoy the view through the patio doors while warm and cosy in the lounge.
