"Beautiful place to stay. So peaceful. Lovely owner"

"Cottage was delightful with a welcome hamper in lovely setting. But in 2 of the bedrooms there were quite a number of spiders and cobwebs which rather spoilt things.Especially as one of our party was terrified of spiders and finished up sleeping on settee in lounge."

"We have stayed in Dorset many times over the years and we wished we had found this cottage a lot earlier as this is the best cottage we have stayed in. It is in a perfect position and very spacious, with lovely views from the lounge. We loved seeing the chickens wandering around and the donkeys in the next field. The owner Valda is lovely and the perfect host and her fresh free range eggs are delicious , we would definitely come back."

"From the first view of the cottage, you knew it was going to be perfect for a very relaxing holiday. Added to this was the beautiful walk rounds the fields shown by a cut grass path, and the animals around the farm. will be going back ."

"One of the best cottages we've ever stayed in."
    Janet – 24 May 2018
"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Mill End. It has everything you could want in the cottage and the atmosphere is so tranquil. We were greeted warmly by our host and there was a nice welcome pack with some wonderful eggs from the free range hens. There are walks from the farm. One does need a car to get out and about but there is a good local shop a bit less than a mile away and plenty of other shopping and eating opportunities in Sturminster Newton and Yeovil etc. We had one small downside because one of our party is a very light sleeper and three cockerels were a bit of a challenge for him in the very early mornings! As a friend said, going to a farm one has to expect these things. We would certainly love to visit again. Thank you Valda for all your kindness."

"I've stayed in many private properties over the years (barns, cottages, farms) and by far this has been the nicest, cleanest and best I've stayed in (and I've been in some pretty great properties before). The setting is just perfect, the barn itself is far bigger than the photo's make it appear to be (there were just 2 of us, but had there been 6 - the amount of people who can stay here - it would still have been as comfortable).Normally when I stay somewhere I leave it cleaner than I find it - not possible here as it was spotless. The fenced in garden is huge so if you don't want to venture far you can just sit and bird watch (robins, housemartins, blue/great and coal tits, pigeons (they get everywhere) doves, pied wagtails, wagtails and a variety of finches were whizzing around every day, alongside buzzards and the owners chickens, cockerels and guinea fowl. There is a 6 seater picnic table on the patio, and a rotary washing line (the pegs can be found hanging in the utility room). If you take a dog you could leave the doors open and it could wear itself out just in the garden alone - or, you could take a walk down to "Henry's field" at the back of the property where you can meander along the river and your dog can run free (the bottom right corner by the widest part of the river is the perfect spot for a sunset photograph). The en suite's for each room are bigger than my bathroom at home and all include a bath with shower over (the water pressure is fabulous). The beds are comfortable do not be fooled by how thin the quilts appear to be - they pack some heat. There is enough storage in each room for clothing (chests of drawers and double wardrobe) alongside a TV in each (some kind of freeview only, but if you're staying here TV is quite possibly the furthest thing from your mind as there is so much to watch outside the windows). There is internet at the property but it's so slow there is no point trying to connect to it - if you really cannot be disconnected I had 4G on the patio and outside the front door. The kitchen is fully fitted with all you will need (and more) there is plenty of cupboard space. The utility room has a fridge/freezer along with a washing machine, iron/ironing board, hoover and enough coat hooks for everyone to hang up a coat to dry if it's been raining. This is a good spot for boots too. There is more than enough seating in the lounge and a 6 seat dining table offering plenty of room for everyone to sit comfortably. The property has a small selection of videos/dvd's and some board games; there are also several books in the lounge and the end double bedroom too.The welcome pack is - well, welcome - and Valda is lovely. A very welcoming host who keeps to herself so as not to intrude, but not so aloof that you cannot chat to her or ask her anything. We had some lovely conversations with her, and having read one of the guest books learned she likes Apple Crumble (might be nice to take one along if you're visiting!)There are dogs and chickens roaming the grounds so keep this in mind if you're not a lover of either. If you're happy to share your time with the wildlife, like an "escape from it all" which is also very central for visiting Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, all of which (and their attractions) are within easy reach, then you will not be disappointed if you book at Mill End Farm Cottage. I cannot wait to go back."
