A pretty 18th century thatched cottage located next door to the Owner’s cottage, lying in the heart of the village of Sutton Poyntz, tucked away in a lane at the bottom of the surrounding hills. Fox Cottage is set over two floors and offers plenty of stone cottage charm with two stable doors, stone walls, a fireplace and deep window seats. A characterful stable door welcomes you, and through it you will find a cosy sitting room with stone fireplace and gas coal effect fireplace where you can relax and unwind. Climb the spiral staircase up to the master bedroom where you will find a charming window seat, perfect for curling up with a great book. The kitchen breakfast room on the ground floor is amply equipped and has an attractive private courtyard at the back through another stable door, it’s a real suntrap and perfect for enjoying alfresco meals in the warmer months. Adjacent to the kitchen is a ground floor twin bedroom ideal of younger guests and you will also find the shower room off the kitchen. Step out of the front door of Fox Cottage and you will find yourself spoilt for choice with walking options, there is even a footpath that starts at the end of the cottage’s road. Wander through the idyllic Dorset village of Sutton Poyntz, stop to watch the ducks on the village pond and keep your eyes peeled for views over the white horse carved onto the hillside. For those mealtimes when you don’t want to cook, walk to the local pub to enjoy a tasty meal and a drink. No visit to the Jurassic coast would be complete without a visit to world UNESCO heritage sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door just 11 miles away and Weymouth’s award winning beach just 3.5 miles to the south offers a traditional seaside day out as well as high street amenities, café’s, bars and restaurants. Fox Cottage is an idyllic cottage for couples or small families to come and enjoy a stay in the Dorset countryside and explore the Jurassic Coast.
This small village rests on the Northern side of Preston on the outskirts of Weymouth and is just 5.4 miles away from Dorchester. Within the village you will find a duck pond, and the Spring head pub where you can enjoy views of the chalk horse carving. Within close reach is Weymouth with its sandy beach, a selection of boutique shops, sea life centre and historic harbour.

Weymouth provides full facilities close by. Fox Cottage is secluded up a short lane with fields beyond. It is rather small but is clean and comfortable and our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We found some difficulty with both the bathroom downstairs accessed by a spiral stairway, and the lack of a washing machine and dishwasher. The weather during our 2-week stay was autumnally unpredictable and it was a shame the stove was out of order but the central heating was very effective.

The internal was fine the external needs a bit of work on the gardens front and back The kitchen needs somewhere to put cereal packets but on whole the holiday was fine

Perfect location, clean cottage with comfy beds Limited facilities in the kitchen - it was a base for us as we have friends in the area so only cooked once Parking very tricky- narrow lane you either have to reverse up or down- no turning space Quaint cottage in picturesque location- lots of walks from the door, hosts left goodies and were friendly and helpful
